I don't. I didn't have anything to do with it. There have been other atrocities throughout world history. I'm not Black, but I have to agree with another answerer regarding the treatment of Blacks. I am also familiar with the treatment of the Irish and other cultures/ethnicities. I do not feel any more sympathy for Jews than I do for other people who have undergone atrocities. What about the gypsies, the homosexuals and others killed in the Holocaust? The problem with Jews is that they only want people to feel sympathy for Jews! The hell with the gypsies and homosexuals! That's why I really do not care. And how about Darfur? Rawanda? Oh I forgot. They are Black. Well for those of you who are unaware, perhaps you should peruse some history. WE hear the term "anti-semite" - well are you aware that the original Semite was Black? So you see people of color have undergone many atrocities since time began. Jews - like others - have Black blood in them. Some even look Black.I see things differently than most.

As a Jew, I'm frightened.
As a human being I'm devastated to know that we are still
hated so much today, and another extermination of my people
can occur again. Some of the questions and answers are totally
scary and I wonder why so much hate.

Human beings are cruel to one another, we have learned nothing
from all the catastrophes that have happened this century. People
today are still in danger just for the way they look, dress, worship,

Why can't we learn to tolerate people for who they are, without
having to conform.
THE HOLOCAUST MUST NEVER BE FOGOTTEN.

The Holocaust evokes some very powerful emotions in me. Have you watched Schindler's List? Awesome movie, and another is Life is Beautiful, if you can handle reading subtitles all the way through, it is better than Schindler's List, not quite as intense but powerful none-the-less!

The lesson to be learned is that a modern society, with art, culture, freedom, liberty, media, social graces, beauty, etc, can be twisted, amazingly easily, into a hateful, bigoted evil force.

Germany in the 30's wasn't some backwoods illiterate country. It was a free, open, democratic society.

We must constantly be vigilant of hate, bigotry and intolerance of others. If it can happen there, it can happen here, or anywhere. There is much to learn from that horror.

I think it is a horrible chapter in human history, that shows how easily people can be manipulated to follow and support a person as evil and insane as Adolph Hitler. At the same time, it has shown the resilience of people and the compassion of others who risked their lives to save lives (such as Oscar Schindler). Unfortunately, there is still horrible genocide being comitted (Darfur), when will mankind learn?

I think I have to agree with others, it was a very tragic time, long ago. I think if I were around back then I would have felt terrified, helpless and disgusted. But so were other incidents. Look what the black slaves went through. Some of them still think we owe them today. I wasn't even around then. We must all learn lessons from our history and move on.

I do not understand why the Germans hated the Jews so much. I would like to hear a reason from a German who lived during that time. I am not Jewish. Why did they feel so about the Jewish people?

There have been events in human history so horrendous that they strain our ability to even grasp. This was one such event. These must be studied and remembered if we have any hope of preventing reoccurences
