Military - December 2006

[Selected]: All categories Politics & Government Military

Right now I feel like I'm going nowhere with my life.. I'm stuck in the same sick cycle with my guy I've been with for three years.. I want to be a police officer but I know they'd much rather have someone with a college education *which I can't pay for on my own right now..* I'm finishing up a drug deferred entry of judgement program and after that I'd want to join the Marines.. Would they have a problem with someone who's used before? And not only that.. I've been a cutter too.. I want to serve my country and help those in need, but I don't want those in the USMC to look down upon me..

So I'm learning that it only takes about six weeks to train Iraqi military/police. hummm..Then why aren't they ready? Is it true they do not have the proper weapons? Of course, we also know that about 6 thousand of the trainees have been killed....

When I'm 18 I'll be serving this country. If you had experience or know some one who has in the U.S Navy/Army/Marines/Airforce could you help me?

I'm thinking about being a Marine or joining the Air Force. The army is always at wars but the Marines get sent out first, and I don't really like being a Sailor.

I heard the Air Force pays more an is 'better'.

Thank you.

No prior military experience. 33 years old. Have some Information Technology field experience under my belt with Bachelor's degree.
I work out to keep myself in good health.

What kind of job can I get in Coast Guard? Would I be eligilbe for an Officer program if not at least as an enlistee? Or am I just too old?

Also, what's the chance of Coast Guard personnel getting shipped to trouble spots like ME?

The U.S. military recently called a man back into duty after being retired from the army for two years. During those two years he has been attending college and working towards a degree in law. Recently he received a letter from the army wanting him to go to Iraq (he was high up there in ranks, not for sure what he was though). They are going to court over this and the news said he may be put in jail because of it and lose all of his army benefits.

What do you think about something like this? Do you think the army should be allowed to call you back into service after you have been retired?

Thanks for the answers.

Things were slowly improving in Iraq until CBS blasted the Abugreb pictures all over the world. They did not bother to tell senior members of the military or even the president, which was the responsible thing to do. Instead they showed them all over the world so their ratings could go up. That caused emotions to flare up all over the middle east. The Arabs haven't and probably never will forgive us. Is this the fault of CBS news. Also, what should be done about our irresponsible, unpatriotic Media? The government can't silence them but their are consequences for free speach.

The Vietnam generation is still tramatized. Former protesters have grown up to be senators and ACLU members. When will they get over vietnam. Its not Iraq. They jack-up every effort by the U.S. to win the war. They use propaganda, and uncover top secret documents. Most of that generation was smart and intelligent but the hippies are still trippin off the refer. Whats your opinion(agree-disagree)?

Did we win Vietnam? loss? tie?

I read about a book that said America won vietnma militarly but the media reported it differently. And I'm sure all of us know the media always loves the "no hope, doom, gloom" stories and always takes that angle.
