we are active duty air force with less than 1 yr of a 6 yr enlistment. i have an illness related to the climate we are stationed in (which does not allow relocation) and we have begun to pay for two households in preparation for our upcoming civilian life. we are just looking to see about any options to be discharged earlier. what if we deny 7 level school/training. does that discharge honorably?

I'm a proud American who is torn between what we would like to do for the poeple of Iraq and the fact that maybe they don't want to conform to something "we' might view as correct. I know we went in with the right intentions, but do they really want us to? No disrespect towards anyone - but I'd love to think we were helping and not being a hindrance in something the people of Iraq just don't want.

Similar questions to mine have been asked over the past few months - a (very) few are thoughtful, but most are highly ideological one liners. Recently I read and heard comments about the idea that, eventually, we will leave Iraq (1 month? 15 years?), then there will be violence and instability, no matter when we leave. For example, when the British left Iraq in the 1920's, there was chaos for a while, then stability, then they kicked out foreign interests. Similar to when the British left India. So why not get out very soon and let the violence happen - no question it will stop at some point and there will be (relative) stability. An Iraqi intellectual recently confirmed as much: leave, there will be violence for a while, then stability. It's obvious there are some risks, like there always are. But don't forget that slippery slopes rarely are.

If you have ancestors that were Yankees in the Civil War, could you please list their name(s), regiments, wing of service, and a short story of them.

My ancestor's name was Lt. Col. George F. McFarland of the 151st Pennsylvania Voluntary Infantry. He led his troops at the Battles of Chancellorsville and Gettysburg. McFarland bravely led his troops on the 1st day of the Battle of Gettysburg. the 151st PA took 80% casualties and McFarland suffered a grievous wound to his right leg, which was later amputated, and a smaller wound to his left leg. He was not able to return home until July 15th, more than a week after the battle.

WWI:
Mons, Somme, Ypres. Passchendale, Thiepval Wood, Serre Road, Cambria. When almost 1 million british and commonwealth troops were slaughtered. Where were the Yanks? They didn't arrive until 1917, when the hard work had been done.
Sorry, but I am a little P.ssed off with you lot telling me how you saved our "Butts"

Source: Grandfather lost an arm on the Somme. Father: P.O.W For five years while your army was over here, over paid and over sexed!

I am having a little trouble understanding the young people of this county wanting to run to Canada if the draft comes back.I thank God everyone day for the brave young men and women stepping up to the plate to defend their country.Even if the draft wasn't in the near future I would think they would want to because it's the right thing to do .It show how proud they are of our country. Maybe I'm just old fashion....

The Stealth Bomber was developed in the 1960’s and its existence was denied for almost 30 years. What secret technology could have been created by American or British military scientists in the 40 years since the Stealth Bomber?

Perhaps microwave weapons? Super spy tracking technology? Electro-magnetic frequency weapons? Anti-gravity technology?

Perhaps you think we know everything and there are no secret military projects or 'Black Ops'?

Have you heard rumours or thought about this?

I’m genuinely interested in your opinion, so please don’t respond with abuse or give other people the thumbs down for their honest view.
