Well it depends what you mean by special forces. "special Forces" can technically mean Army rangers, Airborne, or the specific Special forces green berets in the Army. All the units are different and these careers will be different.
I'm guessing you mean probably Rangers or Airborne since to be a Special forces Green beret you must be an E-5 and volunteer for the training and do TONS of traiing.
For the record Ranger school is frickin hard. It is not a walk in the park and it will forever change your life. You can get ranger school in your contract when you first enlist and once you make that choice your going to ranger school. Same thing with Airborne school, although Airborne is much easier and tends to be more of a requirement nowdays for the infantry soldier.
If you choose to be a special forces soldier know that your not guranteed to suceed. These schools often wash soldiers out that just can't cut it. KNOW YOURSELF! If you have any question as to wether you will be able to take the physical and mental rigors associated with this type of life chances are you are not ready for it. Even for the most physically and mentally strong soldiers these schools can just be too much. I never went to ranger school, but I know enough who have to know that I would never have made it. There is no shame in knowing you just don't have what it takes. There are many military careers out there that you can go thru and be a credit to your country without being some special forces guy.

what branch? I know that some men join the special forces and they say it is rough. Most specially when you can not talk to your family about it. So just think about it a little while. If you are married talk it over with the spouse and your family.
Good Luck

Well first off you are in the military then right. They don't offer positions you have to request it. Then by some chance you survive the training then you become a part of the team. Then your real training begins.

Well, for instance...NOBODY gets "offered" a position in SF or any SPECOPS...it is a volunteer force and only after you complete numerous rigerous schools will you be able to enter such "teams". Not to mention all the psych evals that go with it. My suggestion to you is to finsh middle school...finish high school...get laid...and then go into the military. Only then can you volunteer for such "teams" and quit being such a "wanna be poser".

Special Forces=Green Berets
Get ready for the pinnacle of high-intensity low-drag training, soldier! What? You didn't sign on for this?! Too bad, skippy! Mr I-hate-America is training his butt off to install a new freeway right through the center of your acne-scarred forehead, and it's my job to ensure that he does not succeed!
You'll go through Hell to earn those wings, but earn them you will.
My favorite classes were Jungle/Airborne training, but there are all kinds of ways/places that you can go. And wherever you go thereafter...you will go proudly, .

since when do they offer???? When i was in the deuce you had to volunteer, and then you had to try out and make it. The only offering I remember was they would offer you an opportunity to do the PT test. WOW how things change.
