US, who has targeted hundreds of thousands of people by atomic bombs in Heroshima and Nagasaki, is super power and has already more than 5000 heavy atomic bombs, and no one even rise finger to him. But others, who only do tests, are condemned and sanctioned.....Why ?

I was under the impression that if you are deployed and your wife gives birth you are allowed to come home for a bit so you can be there with youre new family... but i just saw on the news that a deployed man got to watch the birth from iraq via webcam...

what is the military's protocol for such situations?

What are our options? We really don't have any dialogue with North Korea and economic sanctions just hurt the people that are trapped by their government. We could take him out and remove some of the pressure on our troops in Iraq. At least this time Bush would have an excuse with regard to weapons of mass destruction.

A nuclear weapon is a weapon of mass destruction - they don't even need to send in the UN inspectors - the Koreans are quite open about it. Could it be that they are scared - only invade countries they know they can deal with without too much trouble!!!!

I own, she rents! Maybe Farakan was right. Same way they treated us in the Civil war, WWI, WWII. From the battle ground right back to the cotton field.

I personally feel its just a show of strength and military progress to the world as N Korea are still stuck in the 1960's with the belief that communism can work. They are an isolationist state unable to communicate with the world because of their paranioa and outdated government ethos.

One problem which may occur is that i dont think the USA will leave N Korea alone now. What needs to happen in my opinion is that Japan, China, Russia and the USA all need to agree on what needs to be done.

Why is it that when the powerful use force it is called "self-defense" and when the weak use force it is called "terrorism"?

Why is that any country apart from israel is subject to inspections. Like Iran & North Korea, Israel too has waged wars or has threanted to wage war. What would stop Israel from not using a nuclear weapon on one of its neighbour?

and I would appreciate honest answers only!

I smiled for my battery command photo, but I noticed that many junior officers don't smile, only really becomes normal at battalion command and above. Anyone know why there is such a stigma for junior officers smiling in their command photos?

N Korea claims that it has just tested its first nuclear device. Was this a wise move? Instead of ensuring the defense of the Stalinist regime, the bomb may only set the sights of invasion on Pyonyang. Personally I thought we should have invaded N Korea in the first place. What do you think?

Obviously inspired question from recent events...

I had thought that the tradition was to wait to name a US warship or Military vessel after an ex-President until he was either close to passing on, or after the fact?

Anyone know of information on the history of the timing behind these events?

Should that President who is considered for a ship's name have served on Active Duty at some point in his life before becoming President to increase his chances?

Would that rule Clinton out to have a ship named in his honor if it were so?

Do we have ships named after Ford and Carter as well?

Thanks for the imput.

I have no idea myself, and I'd really love to be able to understand this. I see news clips from soldiers saying they're in iraq to protect the US freedom, I see soldiers dieing for their beliefs.

How exactly was Iraq threatening our freedom? Even if we did go to war under false pretenses (Which I completely agree with), these guys still seem to be brainwashed into thinking they're doing the right thing.

I believe as much as the next guy that Sadam Hussein was an evil, arrogant prick that did not deserve to run a country, but how was he really threatening our way of life here in the US? Does anyone know? Does anyone have an answer other than the mindless crap that comes out of the whitehouse?

Is it just me, or do these guys have it all wrong, and they're simply dieing in order to appease some war monger we have in office that had to finish what his daddy started?

Please explain.

I am considering joining the Air Force and I wanted to get the opinions of airmen. I heard how they take in to factor if you have a family. It's my husband and daughter with me and I want to make sure I won't be away from they too long.....Does the airforce really keep family in mind ...... are you ever deployed from them for long periods of time....

In late September a high level intelligence report was released that said the US occupation in Iraq has spawned a new wave of Islamic radicalism and increased the global threat of terrorism. Mr Bush is really embarrassed over being wrong about the war.

Just days later, a new book by acclaimed journalist Bob Woodward, "State of Denial", rocked the White House with allegations that it was hiding the truth about the war in Iraq. The Republicans are feeling ashamed over the war.

After a terrible beating from Vietnam we once again attacked another country in the false name of Freedom. We died 35 years ago and we die today. Shameful.
