No you don't get to choose.
You are typically drafted into the Army, but the other branches of the service can take you. The other person (dWali) is somewhat wrong, you may not be drafted DIRECTLY into the Marines but you can be selected to serve in the Marines, I know someone who was......I was there at the induction center.
I had a draft number and enlisted in the A.F. before I was called.

If you sign up in the branch of the military you want to go into. Before it is time for your draft date is up. You can go into the military on the early entry program. Which is where you sign up before you are 18. Think you have to be 17 and have your parents ok. Even being drafted you have to sign your draft paper and so this will give you the time to chose which branch you want to join.

With any system of draft, you are not given a choice where you want to go. Personal experience in the South africa system (MANY YEARS AGO) and common sense tells me that if you have any specific skills, then they will use you in that area. (e.g. if you have sea going experience, they would try to use you in the navy.)

Special branches like the marines usually only allow the BEST from other branches, and you are not drafted directly into the marines.

Draft determines where you will be assigned and you have no choice. If your unit will go to North Korea, you have no choice but to follow orders.

If there is a draft, I would volunteer before being drafted.
