Israel has modified American-supplied cruise missiles to carry nuclear warheads on submarines, giving the Middle East's only nuclear power the ability to launch atomic weapons from land, air, and beneath the sea, according to senior Bush administration and Israeli officials. The previously undisclosed submarine capability bolsters Israel's deterrence in the event that Iran -- an avowed enemy -- develops nuclear weapons. It also complicates efforts by the United States and the United Nations to persuade Iran to abandon its suspected nuclear weapons program.
Kofi Annan, and the world body called the United Nations MUST BE REFORMED, or ABOLISHED.

As Israel has no nuclear power plants, there is officially nothing to inspect
And as it has not signed the Non-Proliferation Treaty, it has not signed up for the inspection regime.
The UN Security Council could insist on inspection (under the UN control) but this would in all likelihood be vetoed by the US, France and the UK (as these countries have supplied Israel with material and expertise)
What would stop Israel from using such weapons? Worldwide political comdenation.

Israel refused to sign the Nuclear Non-Proliferation treaty. You got to have that treaty signed to begin negotiations about looking at the nukes. There is a lot of speculation about how many bombs Israel is hiding. There was a recent news article about the prison system in that country releasing the top scientist on their bomb project. He fled to, or he wants to run away to, the USA.
North Korean threatens to leave the Non-Proliferation treaty, the same as Iran. No problem with any of the countries having the bomb. The problem begins when they start selling the technology.
If somebody in the Middle East detonates a nuclear device, then the status quo for the world's military powers does shift. I would venture to say the end of Arab- and Hebrew-speaking governments would come to the end of their eras in history.

I suppose it is because everyone believes that Israel already has the A bomb, although Israel denies this.
With the other countries, the idea of the inspections was to prevent them developing a bomb. There's no point to it once they have a bomb. That's why they don't inspect China or Pakistan either.
Still, given that Israel has never admitted that it has the bomb, there would be some sense to inspections. We would know for sure.
I think Israel's position as an ally of the US probably means that the US is unlikely to call for such inspections.

Unfortunately, we are moving from the MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction) doctrine that is supposed to have kept the peace during the cold war to NUTs (Nuclear Use Theory).
Both the US and France have helped Israel to develop the N-bomb. Out of $950bn world military spending, the US accounts for the most ($460bn). It spends 7 times more than the Chinese, currently the next biggest spender. Current estimates are for israel to have up to 400 warheads.
In short, the US and European leaders believe they are powerful enough to ignore "world opinion" and support the israel and its nuclear weapons program. The unconditional support in materials, money etc extends to making sure that its neighbours are always weaker.

good question.they should have inspections BUT of all the countries on earth they are the one that really need these weapons.imagine been surrounded by people who have vowed to drive every jewish man, woman and child into the sea and have tried on various occasions.dont you think that they would be in need of such weapons to defend themselves?it would be a different matter if isreal were continuously bullying its neighbours.isreal has only ever hit back at a country in self defense.im not taking sides but only giving you the honest answer you require.

Supposedly, Israel does have nukes (I believe they've hinted at having a powerful bomb), but since they are an ally of President Bush, we have no interest of regulating them.
We worry about Iran, because it may use "the bomb" on Israel; but we don't worry about Israel. What if Israel got tired of the Palestinians, and decided to nuke them? We could have "stopped" them, but since they're an ally, we don't concern ourselves with them? It doesn't make sense.
NOTE: There is NO evidence WHATSOEVER that Israel would use a nuke on Palestinians, IF they even have one. I'm using a "what if" scenario.

NEVER because there is a money connection between the US and Israel. Israel does not threaten to use them unless they are in danger of losing the country to the Muslims.

Having nuclear arsenal is like old money and new money.
old money does not go around braggin' and spending all over the place.
New money can''t wait to lash out with their lottery win, and spend spend spend.
Israel has proved in troubled times that she has the presence of mind not to spend her nuclear wealth willy nilly.
Can you imagine what an Afghan warrior in Hellman province would do if he won the nuclear button in a lottery, that was capable of wiping out Israel and the western world. do you think his crazed fanatical mind would not want him to spend spend spend
