They have been taking images for years of basically everything interesting in North Korea: missile launch facility, control buildings, roads, piles of dirt, etc.)

But since the test was underground, & deep under a mountain, they can't see a crater like those in Nevada.

Not sure if US satellites were positioned to do so, but this test likely was underground. These are not so much "seen" as they are felt.

Underground nuclear testing has distinctive seismic signatures that would be instantly noticed.

Most likely Japanese and American airborn aircraft would have been in position to monitor all forms of communication, troop and equipment movement, and other indicators of the test.

they can't since the test is done underground. The spy planes and such can read nuclear laden dust if it is in the air after the blast. We could read the amount of earthquake caused by the blast and even identify where the quake came from.

The test was underground. But the US has had satellites doing survalence of NK for years. They have satellites watching most countries. Their not called a superpower for nothing. lol

North Korea said that they tested their bomb underground. So it is not posible to spy on the test.
