Yes.... but not during basic training/bootcamp. In that phase you will be issued or required to buy standard white cotton no-logo underpants. After you graduate and you move onto your first base, you can pretty much do what you want, unless you are a trouble maker and on some sort of liberty restriction.

My ex-girlfriend who joint the Civil Air Patrol and then the Air Force, once told me that they were not aloud to wear thongs. They had to be plain white briefs. She hated it with a passion since all she ever wore were thongs. I never saw her again after she left to encampment (boot camp), so I guess she had to get use to her new panties no matter what.

I love the new uniforms' The purpose of them isn't too look good though, it's to blend in with the Tar Macs. No thong's are not permissible.

Frankly, I don't know. But I doubt the Air Force really cares what you wear underneath the uniform.

But my word of advice, don't go around telling people what you are wearing or planning to wear under your uniform. Firstly, that's to avoid unwanted attention. Secondly, that's also to avoid any unnecessary trouble that might find you.

Besides, you will have a lot of other work related duties to worry about than this issue. I suggest you prioritize your work first.

Personally, I really don't care if you just wear your BDUs without any underwear underneath them at all as long as you know your duties and responsbilities which means serving and protecting your country.

NOW DROP DOWN SOLDIER AND GIVE ME 50!!! THAT'S AN ORDER!!!

It may depend upon what Air Force that you are asking about.

I don't think anyone in the USAF will check your skivvies.
