My very best friend recently left for deployment a couple of weeks ago. We are so close, we're like family. I've heard a lot of people say that when you have someone over there, it's best to not watch the news. Is this true? Also, I have formed the habit of checking the CNN list of casualties....I know this can't be healthy to look at everyday. What's the best way to avoid thinking about it?

Until you lose someone you love in this war you can not get on this site and put down those of us who think the war is not worth the lives lost. My son is serving in Iraq and NOTHING would be worth me losing him, NOTHING.
We lost lives in NYC and now we chase it with 3,000 soldiers lost. All had families that morn their loss. Could you deal with the death of someone close to you? Would you still like this war?

suppose we had built over a few hundred robots ,all controlled by a central system, and deployed them at sensitive areas for patrolling etc, could all these lives have been saved.

"we got into Iraq, we cannot undo history -- even recent history -- by simply pulling out and leaving events to take their course in that strife-torn country. Whether or not we "stay the course," terrorists are certainly going to stay the course in Iraq and around the world.

Political spin may say that Iraq has nothing to do with the war on terror, but the terrorists themselves quite obviously believe otherwise, as they converge on that country with lethal and suicidal resolve.

Whether we want to or not, we cannot unilaterally end the war with international terrorists. Giving the terrorists an epoch-making victory in Iraq would only shift the location where we must face them or succumb to them.

Abandoning Iraqi allies to their fate would ensure that other nations would think twice before becoming or remaining our allies. With a nuclear Iran looming on the horizon, we are going to need all the allies we can get."

the only way to win the war is to make them feel love in their hearts and minds for their fellow man and that will not be accomplished.
shouldn't we just bring our boys home and secure our borders and airports and refuse for any muslims to come into this country and anyone else that is considered a threat

it's a cowardly way to fight, america hve done it in all thier wars including world war 2, they just dont hve the courage to fight house to house or man to man, even in iraq and afghanistan ,when freedom fighters are fireing from a house insitead of going in to fight ,they call in air strikes, no wonder the daeth toll it iraq is 650,000 dead, not counting dropping atom bombs on japan, and carpet bombing korean cities and vietnamese civillians with napalm and phospherous bombs.

A bomb blast has ripped through a crowd of labourers in a square in Baghdad's Shi'ite Sadr City district, killing at least 31 people and wounding around 50 others. Iraqi interior ministry sources said the labourers were gathering to wait for job offers.

Meanwhile, the death of a marine on Sunday took US losses for October to 100, making it the fourth deadliest month of the war.

And suspected Sunni gunmen killed 17 policemen in the predominantly Shi'ite southern city of Basra.

There was no immediate indication who was responsible for the bomb in Sadr City but it is a stronghold of radical Shi'ite Muslim cleric Moqtada al-Sadr, who heads the powerful Mehdi Army militia.

Then select their alter ID as best answer. I was looking around through a few est best answers and found that. The_report and Alpha_male were created 3 days apart. They both have about 18% Best Answers and over half of their Best Answers come from each other. Is that like talking to yourself and then answering?

I know its not a military question but the "TWO" of them are on this site most.

Could it be possible to "destroy" a tornado by blowing it up with nuclear weapon? If so, how would weapon yield vary with tornado size, strength, etc? Also, where would the bomb(s) need to be placed for maximum effectiveness? I know you'd kill a lot more people, but this is a nonpratical question. also the movie "atomic twister" REALLY sucked balls.
