There are some who think that by saying that they were in the military, it adds some credibility to their answers. But you can pick these out by their answers. There are also those who hated the military for their own personal reasons. There are those that arrived at basic training and never completed it who feel that they are military experts.
I would think that if they were rich, they would try to impress women with their money. Trying to impress women by joining this website and answering questions in this particular category is laughable at best.
I have served in the USAF for 20 years and try to give accurate information to serious questions or give my opinion based on experience. I cannot answer for others.
BTW, someones knowledge of military weapons depends on the branch of service and their job. Not everyone works with weapons outside of basic familiarization with an M-16.

OK I'll bite. Yes I'm in the Active Duty Army, just made SSG to I do need to change that. If you don't know what SSG is look it up. Being in the Army I could never claim to be rich. You are just mad at me because I pick on your buddys Alpha_Male and the_reporter (who got kicked out of Yahoo Answers, gee... I hope it was something I said.) But if I do have a high Best Answer percentage, and most of it is in Military... How could that prove I'm not in the Army?? Is your brain pan leaking? Someone send you looking for a box a grid squares and your confused? Are you SNAFUed? Did you loose you chem light batterys? Or are you just walking around with a big "L" on your forehead. Come on soapsandwich get with it.

I was in the Army 1991-1995, the only weapons I ever used were M-16's, M-60's and LAW's. I'm a female, so that may be why I have only fired these weapons. I was also an Admin. Specialist and a Postal Clerk. I love the military.....take a look see at my profile. I was in and I'm not trying to impress anyone!

Now days just about everyone who joins the military will handle at least an M-16 in their career. It's mandatory to be proficient on the M-16 in basic now. The rest really depends on your MOS or AFSC as to whether or not you will handle other weapons.
You are right though, I have noticed a lot of people claiming to be military, but really they have no clue.

Some of us are in it.
Though depending on the weapon,i can tell you things about it,and on some I can't.
Like me, I'm a SAW gunner, but i can shoot a .50 cal,and an m16 with accuracy. But i can't shoot the m203 and mark-19
as for the people saying "there are things they can't tell you.."
gosh.. i've yet to see these things.. and to think i was told we'd be working on high tech things *two years ago..*
and here i am, i sometimes see * not that i actually have EVER done my MOS * the equipment i fix. that was developed in the 1960's.... yay!

I was in the Military and I never handled a weapon. Not everyone is a soldier, there are other ways to protect your country without handling a weapon. Some people aren't allowed to talk about what they do. Your question shows you are not and have never been in the military, because you would have known this.

do all military personell specialize in weapons? Or do some do other things?
However, I'm sure there are some sad cases where the people feel inadequate inlife, and lie about their accomplishments.

Hmmm, it relatively is a attain besides the undeniable fact that it must be that we are happy with the activity we do. like the protection stress. placed it in to grant our solutions on protection stress matters greater credibility. AND why could we could prefer to electrify you? I even have served in Iraq and am presently in Afghanistan. inspired? haha. confident or no who cares. via using the term conscription, although spelled wisely, it shows you as no longer being very knowledgeable with reference to the protection stress. a minimum of the U. S. protection stress.
