Could it be possible to "destroy" a tornado by blowing it up with nuclear weapon? If so, how would weapon yield vary with tornado size, strength, etc? Also, where would the bomb(s) need to be placed for maximum effectiveness? I know you'd kill a lot more people, but this is a nonpratical question. also the movie "atomic twister" REALLY sucked balls.

WOW that would like swatting flys with a shotgun. Yep it would probably work but would it be worth it. I imagine the force of an atomic bomb probably anywhere close to any tornado would break up the pattern. The intense heat would change the humidity so much the whole weather pattern for the area would be changed. The wind blowing away from ground zero and the wind coming back into the vacuum would probably also be enough to break up a storm. I'm from OKLA.... can we NOT try it there?

Highly unlikely. I don't think there's any nuke built that is powerful enough to be able to disrupt a weather front -- the cause of the tornado.
Scientists once calculated the amount of energy involved in a hurricane, and estimated that it would take a thermonuclear weapon detonated every SECOND of the hurricane's duration to match the energy output. I'd imagine the energy output of a tornado would be comparable.

Instead of the tornado destroying a small area, you want a nuclear blast to make a wide section of the earth uninhabitable because of radiation. Not smart at all.
