Run run run and more running. You need to run the mile in a fast time. So runing make you quicker and better.
You need lots of sit ups, push ups, and stretches (fingers to toes). You can get a training manual from the military or maybe online or a the book store or library. I have seen them our there maybe the ARCO tests.
If you have a local Civil Air Patrol ask them for a copy I am sure they will offer it to you.
Be ready for a hard time, lack of sleep, commanders pushing your buttons to see if you are good enough to be a soldier, and following orders 24/7. If you dont have what it takes they will send you home. Get ready to be touch and stick it out.
Also make sure your weight is in the right range or they will send you home as soon as you arrive.
It will be stressful as you attend as a civilian, they tear you down and build you up as a SOLDIER.
Good Luck you can do it.

If you are looking to get prepared for all the PT, I suggest the link I have provided. It is the workout schedule that the USAF put together for people trying to prepare for basic.

As far as the push ups and sit ups go. You just have to steadily work on those. The more you work on them the easier they become and the more you can do.

You will want to start running at least two miles everyday to prepare yourself for basic training. Also work on doing sit-ups and pushups.
The better shape you are in when you enter basic, the easier it will be for you

I'd sugest running, pushups, and situps.
Once you're out of basic it shouldnt be a problem. Here they just pass people if they can't even handle the running excercises.
