For instance, my husband hasn't been gone two weeks and already the dishwasher has broken, changes had to be made to our lease. The last time he left, two weeks later I had to have a major sugery. Don't get me wrong I CAN handle these things, but it seems like they always happen during this time.

George Bush was head of the CIA and they were all working for the oil companies and Iran didn't like it so the CIA sent false information to Iraq and thus began the Iran/Iraq war. When that failed to finish Iran off the US set up Saddam to crush any opposition, which is why he gassed the Kurds. The US was involved in some wars and now we arrive at Saddam having WMD's and being on trial. The Bushes are still good friends of Saddam's and I'm quite sure Saddam will finish out his days with power and money. What do you think?

Historically, many reasons have been given for invading other countries. Lateley the excuse is for home security. But what about protecting the rights of human beings? In NOrth Korea, thousands of people are being tortured and experimented on in nazi-like prison camps. Do we have the right to protect these people? Is it any of our business? Do we have the right to overthrow a government to protect its people from further persecution?

Lets face it: the Iraq war is a disaster and it's not getting any better. It's safe to say that it has deteriated into a civil war.
The Iraq military will not be capable of controlling the violence for at least 5 years.
Here's the plan: Work out a deal with Saddam and let him broker a deal with the Sunnis. If he agrees to this then let him live out his life in some remote Iraq region. Of course it will be under certain conditions.
Split the country into however many regions as necessary with the Kurds, Sunnis and Shiites in their own regions.
Simplistic? Absolutely. But Rumsfield and the President haven't come up with anything better and I'm tired of Americans dying over there for no good reason. It's time to end the war.

BAGHDAD, Iraq - The two-month-old U.S.-Iraqi bid to crush violence in the Iraqi capital has not met "overall expectations," as attacks in Baghdad rose by 22 percent in the first three weeks of Ramadan, the U.S. military spokesman said Thursday.

The spike in bloodshed during the Islamic holy month of fasting was "disheartening" and the Americans were working with Iraqi authorities to "refocus" security measures, Maj. Gen. William B. Caldwell said.

"In Baghdad, Operation Together Forward has made a difference in the focus areas but has not met our overall expectations in sustaining a reduction in the level of violence," Caldwell said at a weekly news briefing.

The gloomy assessment of the operation, which began Aug. 7 with the deployment of an extra 12,000 U.S. and Iraqi troops, was issued at a time of perceived tension between the United States and the nearly five-month-old government of Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki.

I know we can't just leave it the way it is now, but from the start, the expectations, the justifications, the planning, the ungodly cost, the fact that there is no end for us in sight at all and the country is on the brink of absolute collapse and civil war, the number of civilian casualties, can anyone argue that the war an absolute horrible mess and that if we knew five years ago what we know now, we would have left Saddam right where he was?

My husband recieves a VA pension. In Sept we had a change of income. We notified the VA and guess what? They didn't get the fax! So we had to do it again. This time they got it. Well, anyway, they told me it would take a couple of days to see if they got it. In a couple days I called and they told me it could take a couple more weeks to get our money back. In a couple weeks, I called again and they told me a month. So now the month is up and the're telling me it could be December before we see an increase in our/his pension. (he is disabled and believe me we could really use the extra money Yesterday!)
Ok, I know the military isn't known for making quick decisions, but my question to you is this:
Does it really take that long? Or am I getting the royal run around?
