I was really close to enlisting to fight this war and this girl lived a few miles from my home. Our roles in life could have been reversed.

Yes.
But it hits me just as hard as when it's men.
I live on a military post. Every time a soldier from our post dies, the church bells ring, and the next day, the flags are flown at half-mast.
It's very sad. We've lost about thirty over the last year.

Well, females wanted to be treated like the men. There are very young men who die over there as well. I don't think females should be in any war. I'm sorry, but that's just how I feel. It's heartbreaking when anyone loses their lives. Both sides have family that is missing them dearly. It's just a sad situation all the way around and all we can do is pray. GOD bless us all.

it's sad, but she made the decision to go two war, and she knew when she left that she might not be back, and that's the price she was willing to pay for her country, and you have to respect her choice. you also should realize that we are over there for a good reason, and if we pull out now, it's going to cause more problems than if we stay. this war isn't something that will just go away if we pull out. we're there because we don't want it it over here in america. there's a line that i think completely describes oru country. freedom doesn't come free. war comes when people stand up for what they believe in. it's a bad thing. but the world wouldn't be much better off if we weren't there. you should remember that.

I think I know exactly who you're talking about. If you wouldn't mind giving me her name, you can message me at my user name of hottemper6. If it's who I'm thinking about, then you have my deepest sympathy, because I was also close to her. I was in Afghanistan when this friend of mine died, in Iraq from a roadside bomb in April of '05, this girl who I had been in marching band with all of high school. Now I have her name tattooed on my back and I never allow myself to take anything for granted, in honor of her memory. Please message me, I would really like to find out if your friend and mine are one and the same...

It hurts me anytime anyone over there unless they're a filthy USA hating terrorist. I actually feel more of a twinge though, male or female, if the person is extremely young. I mean 19? Barely out of high school, not even of drinking age, a kid. And what are they dying for? Definitely NOT our freedom. This administration doesn't even believe in freedom. Not the Iraqis and not ours. Not unless you mean freedom to think and do what they want you to.

I find it hard when females and males are killed in war. It hurts my soul that people have to die for any reason, but it is so much harder when you just know it is not their time.

I didn't know a woman was worth more than a man. Is this the true face of feminism, not equality but superiority?
Don't you find it distressing when 100 Iraqi children die?

These are the hardships of being equal. We want equal time, we pay the equal price. No matter what you have, it always comes with a price. TANSTAFL

It hurts. It hurts more when people say that they died in vain rather than fighting terrorism.
