I have been in the catering and wine trade for a long time and have seen many unscrupulous drivers take the wheel after more than the legal limit. I have known people convicted of drink-driving offences and known people injured or killed by drivers over the limit. Since those who drink and drive do not expect to get caught or have an accident (and thus are not scared of any possible ensuing penalties or damage to people or property), how might you suggest we keep this scourge off the roads to protect the innocent lives driving while intoxicated can damage?

My old high school friend (she has had a hard life) was convicted of 5 narcotics felonies and 1 felony for welfare fraud. She was sent to Chowchilla Prison for women for 2 years for the drug charges (2 years for each of the 5 convictions, should be 10 years, however they are to be served concurrently). In addition she got 8 months for the welfare fraud, to be serve consecuetively. How much time will she most likely serve? 2 years and 8 months--because of the concurrent sentencing OR 1 year and 4 months (50% of the time off for good behavior--if she does indeed behave well in prison--this is her first time in prison, she is 34 years old with 3 kids under the age of 18)? Thanks for your help.

I am a self defense instructor for the agency that I work for. I have been asked to teach self defense to a local sorority. Should I teach them some of lethal blows I instruct with my fellow deputies, or keep it pretty basic. They have had a stalker in the area lately.

Always in cop programs and films.
I understand that it is the same set up or signs/clues or signatures. What I really want to know is what it stands for ,why is it used and when it dates back to.

If the person in question (not me and no relation of mine - thank god) was charged with two felony counts of embezzlement of public funds (school district) in california with two counts special circumstances in October 2005. Bench warrant issued and he was basically forced to turn himself in to sheriff's department in May 2006. He's continued on and on, even asked for dismissal which was denied in November 2006. Now we're in prelim stage and wondering how much longer if it goes to trial. A friend of mine, once covered courts for 8 years states that it's likely he'll plea out for less time. His next court date is next wednesday after an 8 week continuance asked by his defense atty for "investigation" again - stalling. Can he go for another year before trial - there's been two grand juries since 2002 - we're now talking five years later? He allegedly took over 70,000 public equipment, sold it and pocketed it.

Most of today, my boyfriend and I had been driving around our town aimlessly and a creepy car had been following us.

Later that night, I go into a store to buy an air freshener and without even thinking, walked out of the store to peek at my car to see if the creep was there (He had pulled into the same parking lot).

I walked back in to the store to pay for it and a cashier grabs me into the back room, calls the manager and the next thing I know I got cited for shoplifting. They had a police officer escort me out and everything. Im also banned from the store.

They sat me in the room at the store forever talking about leaving store property and I told them I was coming back in but they kept telling me about leaving the actual building so stupid me signed their confession because I was so scared.

Was this even right or should it have happened the way it did?

A processor came to my house after 9:00 p.m. to serve a summons for a photo radar ticket. I informed the processor that I will not accept the ticket and closed my door. The next morning the summons was left under my door mat. Based on him leaving this at my door, does this mean I have been properly served and will have to appear in court if I don't pay the ticket before the court date? This is the first time I was aware of the ticket and the photo of me and my license plate is not clear, so if I have to go to court can I use the bad image of my picture and license plate as a defense?
