When he was 17 he and some friends went joyriding in a stolen vehicle. He was caught and sentenced to ten years in prison. After nearly four years he was released on parole for good behavior.

Just last week apparently after violating his parole conditions for leaving the country because his father was ill in Mexico he was taken into custody after returning back to the US. (Yes, he is a citizen, born and raised in Texas).

He is now facing another six years in prison -- the remainder of the original ten year sentence. I do believe he did wrong by violating the conditions he was expected to follow, but considering the circumstances I do not believe he deserves anymore prison time. Probation would be more suitable for this type of violation.

What do you think?

You're a cop. You find the horribly brutalized remains of eight cute kids, three nuns, four adorable puppies, and a local humanitarian in someone's apartment. Or you find horribly accurate and detailed videotapes of the person raping children (or committing murders, or any other ghastly offenses).
HOW do you manage to treat them like any other "routine" criminals under such circumstances? When you've seen pretty much "undeniable" proof of guilt in a horrible crime, how do you manage to keep your cool? And after conviction, how do police officers and prison officials manage to keep their emotions under control? (It can't be easy dealing with a notorious murderer, month after month.) Feedback, please.

I put a car on craigslist to sell As Is. An 18 ys old girl came by to see it. She drove it and said she wanted to buy it. We negotiated the price, she gave me a cashiers check from her bank, and then signed the title over to her name. The next day asked if she could "sell the car back to me" because she thought she found a better car... to which I said no, as I am not interested in buying the car back. Later, her father called me complaining about mechanical and cosmetic problems with the car, claiming that the sale was not valid. I explained to him that I gave her all of the receipts for the work done on the car, and that she both saw and drove the car. He still claimed legal action. Furthermore, he said that if I didn't give his daughter's money back he would cancel the check. I am confused b'cause I gave her all the details she asked about. I'm still curious about the check. I really don't want the to turn this into a legal thing, but I'm prepared to do so needed. ADVICE PLEASE!!

At an electronics retail store, purchased a computer bag, wanted to know how it would fit 2 small computers, placed 2 iPods (enclosed in a plastic theft proof prevention box, which is about the same size as a small computer) which I was going to purchase in the 1st place, went to the sales associate to ask if they had the iPods in black (which took them forever to comeback), they said 'No.', so I placed the other iPod back on the shelf (but forgot about the other two in the bag), went to purchase the bag, walked outside, and their loss prevention staff stopped me and told me what had happened. I admitted nothing. Very embarassing, am a major contributor to the community, own a mortgage lending company, have a party rental company, and have an e-commerse business. I could lose it all if I don't wipe this off. I plan to plea not guilty, and hopefully appeal to the jury.

I won't get into details, but my brother is is in need of a good federal attorney that does not require the whole fee up front, would let us make payments or something. Help? time is of the essence. He had a Public Defender, but the guy went on vacation at a very crucial time, and he is kind of in the wind right now, and we decided not to wait. We are in desperate need of help!

I've never had a ticket until my speedometer broke. Since then, I've had two - one in Jan. & one today. I've always been a good driver & was even accused of being a "granny driver" in high school.

I know many people who try to get out of tickets & I don't want to be like that.I feel that if you do something wrong, you should take responsibility for it. Both times, I haven't told the officer about my speedometer being broken & just paid the ticket. I'm sure they've heard every excuse in the book anyway & I don't want to come across the wrong way.

So, should I have said something and/or tried to fight it? I feel like I should take responsibility for my actions but, I also don't really feel like it was totally my fault.

I'm a college student & don't have money to pay for speedometer & ticket. My parents promised me they would pay for things & help me out financially if I went to college (I'm 24). They paid the 1st tcket but not the speedometer, so now I have another ticket

My dad and I made a sign a few years ago.The sign read like this.
Drunks
Against
Mad
Mothers

Then one of my brothers wrote fuckthe police in small letters on the bottom corner of the sign. You had to be close to see it.We left the sign out all day long and the police never said nothing.A lot of people driving by would raise their beer as a sulate. That night we built a small fire in a metal box that night and sat around and drank. The sign was in back of my truck and the police stop to see about the fire,no problems when they was leaving they see the sign in my truck so they come back.We get tickets for open fire and displaying profanity on a sign. The sign was not even displayed. Some of you people think that cops are good. But we got screwed over because of something my brother wrote that was in back of my truck.$375 apiece. Then the judge tells us that the sign was legal saying drunks against mad mothers. What do ya'll think?

My ex and I were involved in a domestic violence situation. he was in jail for 4 months.. He had a pre-trial conference that he didn't show up for so they post poned it, and he didn't show up for the post-poned one either.. now I see on the courts website that he has a bench warrant out for him, and that his trial is set for october.. Does this mean they are going to arrest him and keep him in jail until october?
