OK one of my friends has a situation on her hands. She is a manager at a Super 8 Motel in a small town. Well, in this small town there are many druggies and unemployed people. She wanted to help these people clean up their act, so she gives them rooms to stay in, and they work to pay the rent. Jobs being housekeeping, maintenance, etc. She has to call the police many times because these people end up not working anymore and not wanting to leave. Many of these people didn't have the intention to work when they came. Well the owners are somewhat cheap and are under some financial problems. They agreed to pay TOT (Transient Occupany Tax). Well, one day the paper decides to publish about it. Saying that the Super 8 is the only one who hasn't paid it. But they had an agreement to pay later this year, but the paper decided to slander them. Now after that, on the back page the Sheriffs speak about how bad the business is. Saying things like how they had 59 calls to the motel within 2 years

2. Here in Pittsburgh, a young pregnant woman suffering from malignant brain cancer has a Pennsylvania living will. She has become comatose and can no longer communicate, but made it clear before her coma that she did not want to be kept alive, or have her baby kept alive, if she could not live to mother it. She is only eight weeks pregnant, but her doctors feel they can keep her alive until the baby is viable. Her husband has petitioned to withdraw her life support; her parents, who want a grandchild, are opposed; the doctors/hospital is refusing to withdraw life support without a court order. You are the judge; how do you rule, and why?

Courts allocate child support payments based on the income of the responsible person (note not always the father). If this person works on minimum wage we can assume that all of the little money he can pay is being spent on feeding and clothing the child/children. But what about women who get like 20k and up a year in child support ? Can they really blindly trust the mother to spend ALL of the child support money on the children needs, or do we need to hold the mother accountable to make sure she does not spent any of the child support money on herself, even if she clothes and feeds the children ?

now, is this true? Can anyone source that information for me, as from people I know who have had them, it cost them like $200-$300, hardly a financial windfall for a doctor a clinic as the procedure isn't necessarily simple. Can someone give me statistics not slanted opinion on how much money is made annually on abortions versus delivery of a baby, b/c I know that doctors make a lot on that procedure.

I just want to figure out if this is just rhetoric or true, thanks.

I don't know if I am pro or con on this issue, I am just researching a paper that I am writing and came across a journal article on the subject. My paper is not on this subject, I'm just curious. The fact is that the demand for organs is growing exponentially, yet the supply is not keeping up. Money is a motivator for almost anyone, and perhaps you could opt out of the financial incentive if you feel wierd about it. Make no mistake about it, lots of money is made by people who harvest/transport and transplant said organ, but should it also be given to the source? Just curious on your thoughts regarding this. Let me know what you think...

I have considerable wealth. My children are ingrates and selfish and treat me very badly, and are only after my money. I am 67 years old and not getting any younger. Is there a full-proof way I can use so that they cannot get their hands on any of my wealth either while I am alive or dead? Only serious replies from advocates and like. Thank you.

Would this imply that you will limit the other individual of the race you deplore's pursuit of happiness, etc? I know that the social reprecussions will be bad (i.e. this Imus thing now) for such an individual unless they are in the KKK or something... But do you have a right to be racist? Is there any way to change the status of the law now, i.e. make it legal if it isn't or illegal if it is now? What strategy would you suggest? Any miscellaneous thoughts on the matter?

PS - I'm striving to be objective; I'm not racist and I hope you are not either. It's just a mental exercise, satisfying a curiosity and asking for input. Thanks.

First, social class, usually defined by financial standing, remains a basis for judgment in today society. For example, government positions; in order for someone to even run for office they must have millions of dollars to spend on campaigning or they don’t have a chance.

can you think of another example?

this question might be a bit long, buts its only so you can get the idea of what is happening, my neighbours are the kind of people of sleep all day and up all night, you know the kind that doesnt work and stuff!! they have parties all weekend every weekend. they atract youths to their door and the close way, these youths are then kicking other neighbours doors and smashing glass etc. i have on several occasion called the local council who say they have a anti social referal for the neighbours, but how long does this take to go through. the police dont seem to care and come out and move the youths on and once they are gone the youths are back at the neighbours door again.. its a no win situation. my kids are scared to go out to play incase they involved with what is happening there. any advice on what else to do would be greatly appreciated. oh and also i have requested a move out of the area and im number 3 on the list so it shouldnt be long, but i cant deal with it for much longer.

My friend made it through basic and AIT but then before he was transferred to his unit he went to his commanding officers and told them about his gambling problems and how he needed to get help right away.. They didnt do anything at first so his family contacted red cross and the red cross contacted the military and he got a 10 day leave before going to his unit... He never made it back to the army. He was been gone for two years and he went to GA for his gambling help and he searched for god and found help there... It has been 2 years AWOL and he has gotten pulled over by the cops once for a speeding ticket and went to court... He has a good job where they run a background check on him... Hes bought a house and a new car... All of this while he was AWOL... And now that hes gotten the help he has saved up money for his family while hes gone he wants to know what happens now with the AWOL and why they havent hunted him down or arrested him when he was pulled over or bought a house????

I am no racist and I think that it is morally wrong to be such... however I wonder why freedom of speech is okay when slandering the government, corporations and whatever else people choose to do with it....

But when a person such as Don Imus's comment about that basketball team causes protests and instant firing -- wasn't he using this freedom that was given to him -- yes it was wrong and he apologized for it but I've heard worse things that were able to slide without any words of protest or even apology! Is this sort of hypocrictical? Can we only use this freedom when what we say is "right" and if this is the case who decides what we should think is right?
