I am having a hard time understanding the law about the drinking age. I know that in 1984 the drinking age was going to be upped to 21, but then I am getting information that says it happened in 1987. I understand that in 1984 the Federal government said that each state is required to up the drinking age to 21, or lose federal money for state highway funding. But where does the 1987 come into play? Or is completely wrong, because I think that the 1984 law says that no one under 21 can purchase or possess alcohol, but it doesn't say anything about not consuming it. Please someone help me understand this!

If you compare illegal drugs to cigaretts in a way that over time both are destructive to your health. Why does the government push to get drugs off the streets but lets cigarett companies legaly produce. And then its the consumers fault if they smoke and die but not tobaco companies fault, unless they issue warning. Why don't they legalize drugs and put warnings on the packages!

ARMENIANS killed 500.000 Turks, after 700 years of friendship, they turned against their neighbors, sided with Russians and even today they are Russia's best friend, and they won't open their archives to study group, afraid of the real truth. just 15 years ago they have massacred 1000"s of azeri people in kohjali, and occupied their land,it was condemn by United Nations, now they think if they unite their people under the POOR ME PITY ME approach they think they will isolate Turkey and will ask for compensations($50 billion).they are surrounded by 110 million Turks but yet still they fill their children's heads with hatred of Turks, they have formed their unity over hatred of Turks, like harant Dink said it is a poison in their blood. They will never succeed,Turkey has 8Th ranking army in the World,I hope it won't come to that.so I say to all the haters STOP and get over it it was more than 80 years ago.

Should we send a copy to everyone in Congress? What will it take to get the laws changed to protect people *and* preserve our Constitional rights. (I don't think we have to make a choice between doing one or the other.) I think what happened at Virginia Tech shows we have to do something different. What does it take to get that message through and acted on?

What legal action could I take against a service shop or warranty company that ended up charging me money for something that is covered by warranty. Shop worked on my car on a part that warranty covered, and didn't check something they were supposed to check in the process and 1 week later the part they were supposed to check went bad (due to them not checking) my warranty wouldn't cover the labor again (5hrs). in the process service personnel at the shop lied, refused to dispute the warranty company, and on top of it was extremely (to the extreme) rude, called me a liar etc.
In the end service manager ''agreed'' to cover 50% of labor cost (they took the engine apart without my permission and claimed they got my permission over the phone, no signature) and I needed my car to go to work so by this point I had no other choice but to pay the left over part to get my car back.
I am not looking for a quick buck I just want my money back from the last 2 repairs,1st repair I paid deductible

According to a local news station:
An Ohio couple created their own contest and are giving away their farm to the winner.

In a 50+ word essay, you must answer the question "Would you like to own a 43.5 acre farm in Colebrook Township, Ashtabula, Ohio?"

The essay must come with a $100 certified check or money order non-refundable entrance fee. A third party will read and pick the winning essay. Their decision is final. The contest ends once 3,000 essays are received. Essay winner is responsible for all costs dealing with ownership and tax transfers, and will be notified within two weeks of the judge's decision and will take possession of the property and home 60 days after the transfer of the title and deed.

The Ashtabula County Sheriff's office checked with the couple's lawyer and the Internal Revenue Service and said the contest is legal.
--------

So do you think it's worth entering, or are the owners hoping to get just 2999 entries so they can keep the farm and $299,900?

In general, as things are today, would you say that having guns available to and in the hands of so many citizens makes us:
safer
or
puts us in more jeopardy than if they were illegal
(and citizens had to live their lives unarmed)?

And according to the US Constitution shouldnt ONLY the militia (police/military) bear arms?

Should America put tighter restrictions on the ownership of weapons. Perhaps a gun buy-back scheme, where people get money for the handing over of their weapons.

Of course, we can also be worried that the responsible gun owners will do the right thing, and the criminals will now have the upper edge.

Please, everyone discuss your thoughts on the issue..
