My nephew got into a fight with someone for breaking into his home and stealing some of his items. He broke the guy's jaw bone and the two of them are the same age. He was arrested and charged with assault to a minor. Can someone tell me if they know if he will face serious jail time?

Personally and emotionally, I wouldn't mind if abortions are legal. Many people are better off not being born. However, when I look at the facts and come to a logical conclusion, I believe that abortion Shouldn't be legal. This is producing cognitive dissonance. Please, tell me why abortion should be legal but killing a one month old infant shouldn't be. Why can't mothers legally kill their 2 yr olds if they can no longer support them, but the unborn child can die? Please, no god talk or "the bible says this or that." (If you can't offer an answer based in reality without resorting to supernatural presumptions, then your answer will be ignored.) I want rational explanations with valid logical conclusions. Namely--other than safety concerns for the mother--what criteria differentiates an unborn infant from the other infants that makes their death acceptable?

Wondering what prisoners actually had to do. When I was there the jobs were just cleaning, kitchens and workshop stuff and there wasn't enough to go around. I would have much preferred to have a job to make time go quicker.

what business is it of the government whether we smoke, or eat fried foods, wear our seat belts, wear a helmet while riding a bicycle or motorcycle???? Now they want to tell you whether you can smoke in your own home or in your own car??? Why do smokers need to pay such a high price in taxes?? So we can have a better health care system?? Why don't the doctors and hospitals just lower their fees??? If everyone quit where would that revenue come from anyway??? In NY they are banning saturated fats, it should be my choice whether I want to eat it or not. Where does it end, I thought this was America????

I met with our landlord last night and instead of recieving a check, he claimed that we OWE him money! On the list of charges, he completely replaced all the faucets and showers in all three bathrooms saying that they were leaking and required to be replaced. I have been living there for 2 years and never have I remembered anything leaking to the point where I would even have had to call him to fix! When I brought this up, he said that he's not even supposed to fix 'leaks'. He pretty much charged us $1500 to remodel his bathrooms, and even included a $360 labor fee, which he did himself! He payed himself $15/hr for three days work! This is not the first house I've rented, but this is definitely the least I've even recieved back, and the house was the best kept house I've ever lived in.Landlord at the end of our meeting said everything was 'his word against ours.' He's pretty much keeping all of our $1200 and saying we owe him $290.We never did a walk through with him either. What to do???

She has worked for almost 2 years in a food company. 3 months ago she fell down due to a deffective ladder. They took my sister to a doctor an after the X rays he said she had a muscular problem in the right shoulder, and it wasn't necessary to give her incapacity. She started taking some teraphy, and after almost 20 sessions she's recently felt a sharp pain in her shoulder; so it's been necessary to take some pills recommended by the doctor in order to control the pain. She's been working all this period. During the last date, the doctor said to her that the teraphy practically had finished. He'll sign the necessary documentation to say she is ok. But, she's not! He even try to apply a cortisone shot to control her pain. I think this is just a temporal solution, and even he could be guessing about my sister's shoulder; becuse they did only X rays, no more studies. He said if she can't perform her activities at work, she should get another job. Is it fair??? and the insurance??

I'm curious if someone at a party of mine who is of the age of 21 and asked to spend the night if drunk, decides to leave anyway and gets pulled over and caught. Are they held liable for their own mistake or am I held liable for not restraining them?

Dropped kerbs, also known as dropped crossings are areas of the pavement which are lowered and strengthend in order to let vehicles access driveways and make it easier for disabled people to step up kerbs.

Obviously, it is inconsiderate to block one but is it illegal? My daughter's flat is accessed by one such crossing but it is almost always blocked by vehicles and I can't get access in my wheelchair. The police refuse to do anything about it saying that another person in the flats has given someone permission to park there!!! can that possilby be correct?

I walked into the local police headquarters and asked for a copy of all of the pages in my file that make up the police report filed by arresting officers. I was given just a portion and I was told that I was not allowed to have the rest of the report. The part that I did get was helpful to me but incomplete. Is it true that I am not entitled to get the other portion. How could it be fair to my trial.

My husband's boss, happens to be his younger brother. They got into a fight over the weekend. The brother calls my dh yesterday morning, as he was walking out the door for work, and tells him not to come to work that day. He also added that my dh probably should find another job. Missing yesterday really messed up my dh's over time, that we were counting on for Christmas. Is what his brother did not like abuse of authority or something?? They work for a national chain store. The brother is the manager of the branch in our town. I am thinking of contacting the brother's regional manager about this.

Reading the answers to the questions I have posed, reflects people that read the first sentence then answer in all most a zealots way. While other read the question and attempt to read between the lines.
I understand there are places that have outlawed smoking. But don't those laws in some cases undercut the person that is paying for permits, Licenses, and contributing sales tax?? I was a piblic Heath Invetigator for 40 years. I agree that wmoking is very unhealthy. Economicss will dictate to the bar owner if smoking should be allowed. As the trends continue for decreased smoking they will eventually convert to non smoking.
Walls do not have to be built to seperate smoke, Positve Air pressure in non smoking areas in unison withnegative airflow is smoking areas exhausting the contaminated smoke ca be easily and economcally accomplished.

Okay I haver a different kind of question... Recently I went to court with my ex because he wanted to get his child suppot reduced. When we were in court (in front of a child support judge) he brought up the fact that my daughter no longer visits him( I also have a son that does visit him on a regular basis) the child support judge told me that by law my daughter had to go visit him, I told her that I realize that. And we were done.

This judge olny takes care of child support issues nothing more.

Now my ex-mother-in-law is emailing me telling me that I am an idiot because I don't know that the child support judge and a real normal judge are the same thing.

If my ex wanted to take me to court wouldn't he have to hire a lawyer and take me to a court other than a child support court?

My daughter has very good reasons for not visiting her dad and I do not want to tell the whole story on here. So please do not tell me that I need to let her go over there.

My uncle died this summer and it was from mixing two drugs he shouldn't of. He wanted to get into rehabs really bad but there is only a 72 hour holding period. As soon as that time was up he felt like he needed the drugs a lot so he signed himself out. I want to change that in Missouri and I have the support of some clubs and faculty members at my school. I would like to change it to be where if at least 3 family members signed the person in and they had a history medically of an addiction and doctor's refusing to treat them then at least they can make the holding period longer.
Is this possible? Any suggestions?

Our apartment was chosen for inspection, but before the manager and building owner came, my mother had to go change where the car was parked because of the street cleaner. She did not expect they would come because they did not specify a time. She left my 16 year old brother there so the house was not alone, so he greeted them and they told him because of a "rule" Ive never heard about, he had to step outside because he was a minor. They both went in without anyone else in the house and I just thought this was suspicious. Can they ask a minor to step outside the house? Can they go in our home without an adult or any permision of an adult?
