If so why is it legal for some to drink and other adults can not legaly drink? Is this age discrimination? Is it the result of laws bending to suit corporations?IE Insurance lobby?

Shouldn't we share this great research about alcohol causing those under 21 brain damage with Europe? They must all be brain damaged by now.

I'm sure this makes no sense to me because I was obviously legaly brain damaged because the legal drinking age when I was 18 was 18. Probably why this makes no sense to me.

To those that think me under 18 and have passed 18 twice and then some. I would like to see people take an interest in an injustice whether it applies to them or not. ?This law never applied to me. When i was 18 it was the legal age in this country the law was not divided in to this is leagal for this but not for that all adult citizens of the United States shared the rights and responsiblities equally.

I think it is more a sign of the inconsistencies that will always appear in somewhat-democratic states. Of course there are various pressure groups that helped to bring it about, and keep the law as it is, but now the law has its own momentum. What would a politician gain by trying to change the drinking age to 18? Nothing, since that age range is least likely to vote, and it may cost them among older voters.
Also, it is actually up to the States themselves to set the minimum drinking age, but if a State sets it at anything below 21, they miss out on some portion of what they would have gotten in Federal Highway Funds. Of course the States want this money, so the limit is going to stay 21.
It's not really age discrimination, which is a fairly murky concept in its own right. The Constitution itself enshrines age dicrimination, as it sets out minimum ages for Congressmen, Senators, and Presidents.
The de facto law lets those under 21 drink, as I for one know that I could have gotten alcohol just as easily before I turned 21 as I can now. If the law were stringently enforced, you might get a movement among 18-21 year olds to change the law - but when you're going to go from the bottom of that age group to out of it in 3 years, it's hard to get a real movement off the ground.

All Adults should be equal under the law. The reason the law is set at 21 instead of 18 is because the 18 year old brain is not fully developed and alcohol can be harmful to it. Should the government decide if you, an adult, should be allowed to hurt your own brain if you so choose? No. Alcohol is harmful to ALL brains, but we decide that adults are responsible for their own decisions, good or bad. So why then are some adults allowed to make this decision and some are not?
I think a legal adult should either be 21 or 16.
Whenever you set the age, people will rise or fall to your expectations. If you set it at 21, people will act childish until then. If you set it at 16 people will rise to it and become more responsible adults as a result by the time they are 21.
You aren't going to find people to get behind your cause because not enough 18 year olds vote to make a difference. Even if every 18 year old voted, it would not matter because the people above 18 far outweigh the people below. The main decision makers are at an age where they are trying to protect their own 18 year old's at home and they are disillusioned to think that illegality of alcohol prevents their own children from drinking it.
Only thing you can do it wait until you are above 21, then start the fight. No one will ever take an 18 year old seriously when fighting for this.

There are two reasons why the alcohol age is 21 and not 18. One reason is that the brain doesn't stop developing until around 20 or 21, so it prevents damage to a still-developing brain. Also, by placing alcohol just outside of the reach of teens, alcohol companies are earning money because teens want the alcohol more. When the age limit was set to 21, alcohol companies got triple the profits.
It is not age discrimination.
It also might be the result of bending laws.

Yes, all US adults should be the same, and as far as I know all people 21 and over can drink.
If you are talking about the time from when people are 18 to 20, that is because there would be to much alcohol abuse if 18 were the drinking age. To see how, not that long ago the drinking age was lowered to 18, but then raised back up to 21 after too many problems.

All adults are equal under the law. Everyone under the age of 21 is not allowed to drink. It doesn't matter if they are white, black, Hispanic, native American, male or female.
Now is the 21 age limit fair? That is a matter of opinion. For those in the military, if they can die for this country, they may drink. If you are not in the military, then you are subject to the laws our elected Representatives pass.
If you don't like the laws as they are, you as a citizen have the right to run for office and then try to change them. If you don't want to run for office or are too young to run for office, then you can try to petition your elected Representatives to have them change the law.
Remember, in this country, you always have a choice. If you choose to drink and are under 21, be prepared to pay the price. Is it really worth spending time in jail for a beer?

i'm on your area in this one. at the same time because it quite is actual that marriage isn't reported everywhere interior the form, it quite is beside the point. Marriage exists for persons in this united states of america, and what exists for some ought to exist for all. are you able to image, if somebody observed that the form does not assure the the suitable option to consume? Then takes it upon himself to assert who gets to consume and who starves? in the past you tell me that The shape ensures the the suitable option to existence so as which will no longer be able to take place, end. The shape additionally ensures the the suitable option to the pursuit of happiness, yet that doesn't end some people from saying others will no longer be able to get married. you ought to forget approximately attempting to cajole those non secular loonies obtainable. they are too closed minded to do something yet decide. (even nonetheless their Bible expressly forbids it) in accordance to their own ideals they have a warm ask your self coming to them. with a bit of luck interior the style of a suppository.

You're right! The age of majority should be changed to 21 ... so that there is no discrimination.
You should have to be 21 to drink, buy cigarettes, lottery tickets, and most of all - be in the military and lose your life.

Equal in what aspects? The drinking age is set by state and not federal government. If you question is to get justification for getting drunk. Well what constitutes drunk? That is set state by state as well. And if your purpose is to drink just to get drunk-- You probably don't need to be drinking in the first place.*LOL*

i think young people are more prone to take risks while drinking and are more dangerous especially on the road because of lack of experience and knowing their limit ... im sure insurance lobby plays into it ...i dont care if ur 17 and drink myself , i just hate to see you get in a car is all ... so the law is justified i think more than alot of others ...

You are right, we should change the law where you are not legally an adult until you are 21. 18 year olds don't know what they want in life, anyway.
