My town just passed a Kendra's Law, giving the government the right to force someone to take medication for a mental illness. It was named for a woman who was killed by a schizophrenic who was off his meds.

Is this a good step to help save lives, or a bad step toward a police state? What do you think?

Life Is Life
Innocence and guilty do not measure the value of a human life.......While saying that the laws are wrong on abortion you support the same laws of the death penalty....U claim abortion is murder well then u would have to argue that the death penalty comits murder under the law as well.....some of u say it is up to god who lives and dies well the same concept would apply to the deat penalty....

I was in a no fault car accident in Oct. 2005. I did not have gap insurance so they only paid for what the car was worth leaving me with a balance. The car is totaled (ofcourse) because i am no longer working full-time, and enrolled in school fulltime, I made payment arrangements with company for what i can afford. Apparently they thought i was lying and attempt to do income verification etc.. So they have aggreed to accept the arrangements. Since then they have ask to settle for an offer which i had to refuse because i did not have the funds. So i continue to send the monthly agreed upon payments. they send me reminders about the payment etc. Recently they sent me a letter stating that they are canceling the payment agreements and that i have 7-10 days to pay the entire balance. They also said that if i don't they are going to take legal recourse, and this will be placed on my credit and affect my chances of getting a job. Is any this legal or even possible?

I feel like we are again in the McCarthy era. Interrogate this guy for saying something, blacklist this other guy for writing this...When are they going to start tracking our thoughts and interrogating us for being upset with them (oh, wait RFID's already have this technology...)? And now we find that at the time of the Sept 11th attacks, there were DAILY meetings and warnings about a terrorst attack? So, they knew about it, didn't do anything, and now want to punish the rest of us for their mistakes. WOW, way to go guys!...Good Grief...

Where does it end??

A child artist has to work hard like any other child working on the street. The only difference is the payment of wages which they get.

What happens when an ordinary person gets sued for something like $100 million? Do they have to give up any extra income they earn for the rest of their lives or something? Who pays the money in the end?

I've been struggling to get my evil medical insurance company to pay all of the maternity fees that we were billed recently. They've basically only payed up to a certain amount ($3500), but not paying the full amount (the remaining $2100).
The bill for the obstetric care was $5600, so they are expecting me to pay a $2100 difference! Note that this doctor WAS in-network, so the service should be paid at 100%.

From the research I've done, it generally costs between $5,000-$8,000 for a normal vaginal delivery. So why they are cutting the funds at $3500 is beyond me.

Since something like childbirth is a normal and medically-necessary procedure, could this insurance company be sued for failing to pay the full amount?
And if so, what type of laywer would I need to look into contacting?

Ok ... I am currently employeed my a shady staffing agency that has shifted things around to screw their employees over. They are constantly caught in lies and I would love to leave them but if I quit I don't get unemployment while searching for another position.

I was told that since the staffing rep has their email address on thier business card as a form of contacting them that I should always communicate with them via email so their is a paper trail for everything that is stated.

Well I caught them in yet another lie and confronted them on it. At the bottom of the email the rep states "This will be the final e-mail conversation between us. Our method of communication is live and via the phone. If you cannot abide by this, your voluntary resignation will be accepted." Can they do that? I am not resigning. They would be firing me not me resigning right? The only way they can say I voluntarily resign is if I say "I Quit" right?
