There is a bright future for competent lawyers in India. There is a dearth of competent lawyers here. All along only those who academically not so sound and those who could make it to any other profession or a job took to law, without any flair for it. Now, the situation is fast changing. With the Indian economy looking ahead, there is a need for all these companies who can handle their various needs, including the legal ones. A number of National Law Schools that are set up in various places like Bangalore, Pune,Jodhpur, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad etc are churning out good materials for these firms. If you are competent and have a passion for law, the future is beckoning you to law as a profession.

Very good. Democracy is well established in India. Litigation is meaningful only in a democratic setup. At present there is immense pressure to speed up justice delivery systems. There are only 12000 judges for a population of 1050 million. world's lowest rate. Necessary qualities are - gift of the gab - good knowledge of English. Public speaking capabilities and a sharp mind.

I see the world becoming a global economy. This means that all nations will become more corporate and there will be more intermixing of cultures. It will not be a smooth road, because of the current disparity in social levels and cultural norms.
I would have to think that's ripe fodder for lawyers.
