I guess this question might be best suited for a lawyer or someone that has extensive knowledge of Kentucky law. About three years I (family and self) took a tragic matter to court. The case went before a judge and not a jury. The lawyers had heard of the incident and told us that the case could be a sevin diget (million/s) to us. I would try to pay such a price if I could regain what we lost. As it turned out, we received under a six didet figure. The accused received no penalty and the assets we received came from insurance. As it appears, the case cost him nothing save lawyer related fees. We, per lawyers advice,. settled out of court. In retrospect I wish we had taken the matter before a jury and taken our chances. I feel that a jury would have seen things differently than some others did. Question: Can the case be re-opened by myself and/or another family member? If permitted to be re-opened, can we ask for a trial by jury? Thank you for your time and advie

If you want to get a restraining order on someone for whatever, can you notify that person by phone that they are to be in court on a certain day and leave this message on their answering machine that "You have been served"? What if they are out of town and don't get that message untill after the court date?

Was it right? My Opinion:
My father has been living with MS for more than 5 years. Auto-immue diseases run in our family and stem cell research would really help. I took his veto very personall and frankly I'm pissed off. And to top things off, in CA we have I think 3 billion dollars that are supposed to be used for stem cell research under consideration in court. When did medical research every become an issue of morals? Letting someone die doesn't sound like following morals at all.

What are your opinons?

Do you give money to homeless people who stand on the side of the road and beg for it or do you feel that you just want to tell them to get a real job? Why or why not?

Ok, I don't want this garbage about it's not God's way, lets look past that just for this single minute and answer my question without mentioning a religion(you can't do that, it's called seperation of church and state, meaning you can't make a law based on a religion). But yes, technically don't we all have equal rights no matter how different we are (even if your a homo...not to be derogatory.) And isn't Bush basing his law on his Christian beliefs and not on what the Constitution says to do and what is technically right to be equal.

Hello, I'm 18 years old and I would like to change my name a little bit. I wanna put the name I have been going by between my first name and my middle name. I heard that this process is pretty complicated and that I have to go to the court for the change. Could someone elaborate on the details of this process? As a potential science major, I am completely ignorant of this legal stuff. Thank you.

Backround info: 2 years ago, I was driving with my older brother and his friend to Baltimore. We pulled over at a rest stop, and my brother got out. His friend said he was going to repark the car, but drove it into the forest where he raped me. We were unable to bring a sufficient case for rape however, and the friend left. My brother tracked him down without my knowing a week ago and shadowed him, and beat him up. Now my brother is in jail, and his trial is soon. His lawyer wont talk to me, so Im askng for help?: what is the worst that can happen? the best? most likely? for one thing, I need his income in addition to mine to put me through colledge, and support my little sister. I am not qualified to be a parent! (my parents are out of the picture)

Don't say 'it's never justified'...consider the following example: A botched surgery where only the doctors and nurses know precisely who made the mistake. No one wants to testify against a colleague. The court will punish them ALL unless one of them turns in the guilty party.

So is collective punishment justified only when we have a 'closed group' like this where everyone knows who the bad one is?

When it's an open group, like a country, is it justified if MOST people know who the bad people are... but do nothing to stop their behavior?

Is bad behavior measured by who is TARGETED by the other's attacks?
(I think this justifies Israel's holding Lebanon responsible for Hezbollah's attacks but does not justify Hezbollah's holding Israeli civilians responsible for Israel's govt's attacks.)

Is being too weak to stop bad behavior a legit excuse for Lebanon? Do they have a duty to try?

This isn't about me, It's about my girlfriend. She used to live with her dad, he was a psycho, so long story short, she lives with her mom now, her mom went to court and her dad signed her over and everything. It's Legal. The problem is, her mom isn't that great either: she doesn't show much love toward her, and when Brooke (my girlfriend) feels sick, or is in pain she says "Oh there's always something wrong with you"
She centers all her attention around her boyfriend
She's in a lot of debt, neither her or my girlfriend have insurence.

Anyways, is it possible for my girlfriend to move in with her grandma, even if her mom is opposed? She would be better off there, because:
Her grandma shows more affection
Her grandma is more weathly
She would live closer to her old friends/relatives
Her grandma is willing to take her in.
My girlfriend lives in Indiana, and her grandma lives in Michigan (about an hour and a half drive apart)
Could this be done at 15? 16? 17?

This is a big problem. Why is breastfeeding, something that gives life, looked at as tabboo and smoking(proven to hurt -even secon hand smoke) in public areas like restaurants considered ok. I have asthma and I have never had an attack brought on by a mother nursing, but I have had severe attacks after walking intoa restaurant full of smoke. Responses are greatly appreciated.

Bush Sr. was pictured holding hands with the Crown Prince, and it is a will know fact that Bush and family are good friends of the parents of Osama. You do remember when a bunch of Osama's family were in the United States when 9-11 happened. And our government let them go without even questioning them. How is that for circumstancial evidence?

I like living with my dad WAY better than my mom and my dad says that I can live with him only if its legal. My mom says I can move out if it is not documented. I wonder if I am old enough to move out by myself . My mom doesnt want to sign any papers. I think its because she will lose section 8 and food stamps and then actually have to work to survive. But is there anything that I can do to override her considering im 15. Maybe could I become emancipated. My mom is kinda nice and not abusive or anything I just like my dad's house better.
