Nigel, Nigel, Nigel
What it is, is a word that you should not use, however much you are in the habit. I know, I know, the n-word means stupid and ***** means black. (I can read spanish so I know) BUT...substitute that word for say any other Curse or other "bad" word that you as Man would NEVER want to be called (and I can think of few that NO MAN would want to be called) and would you let it be the JOKE-around word for you and the boys to use in fun? Even in your music? It's ironic how woman can be a "bad" word in music but men are not too quick to label themselves as frequently. Maybe there is a subconsciene reason: Who wants to be called Stupid or crappy or a body part or body function?
I have distant cousins on the reservations and I can assure you they never liked being labeled by racial slurs so much they used it among themselves as a term of endearment (or a way to combat the negative meaning). It is just not used. You either are NOT going to let other persons negativity oppress you in any way or you ARE.
Why curse at all if you can use a word that is more civilized? Who cares what races started using the words and why they did? It if has any offensive connotation, find another more positve and upbuilding way to get your point across or as Madea (Diary of Mad Black Woman, Madea's Family Reunion or her book, that I loved entitled, Don't Make a Black Women take off her earrings) would say "Shut up".

No. It isn't a curse word. But it is a racial slur; regardless of the race of the person who spoke it. It has not been "turned around." All the variations are racials slurs, too.
BTW, the term in your name is a racial slur as well.
People have no control over what race they are born into. It is pointless to hold something against someone that they didn't have any choice or control over.

It is worse than a curse word because it instills hatred. You need to watch the film, Billy Jack starring Tom Laughlin. It is worse than a curse word, I would consider using it to be a hate crime.

It use to be! The blacks say the word more than the whites do and have since turned it into an everyday saying just like the word F*ck!

If it is for one race, it should be for all races. I hate it when Caucasianly challenged people use the word, and then get angry for Caucasians using it. I would say It is a swear word, and the only people I hear using it are dirty mouthed bigots. Regardless of their skin color.

It depends on it's use, from african american to another african american it's i guess a friendly term. now if I (a white person) called a african american ****-r, he has the right to kick the **** out of me. It's not really a cuss word, it's more of an agreement for a white guy to get his *** kicked, cause we usually deserve it.

It's hilarious you ask such a question considering your name contains an anti-white racial remark.
You're just one more example of an ignorant racist with too much free-time on his hands.

Yes. Any form of the word is vulgar. Like ALL racial slurs.

What kind of a question is this? Does it offend you? Yes or no. Who cares if it is, are you gonna stop saying it if someone says "yes"?
