i mean, having different visas for the same country? I had my existing tourist visa and it's not expired yet. So, will it be okay if i apply for a working visa for the same country? Wouldn't there be a conflict having 2 visas for the same country?

illegal immigrants so much that we would begrudge them an oppurtunity to make amends and earn citizenship, or is it just a case of a loud minority that spews the hatred?

call me ignorant but i believe the majority want to find a way to allow illegals to earn their legal status and become productive citizens. NO AMNESTY, but amnesty does not have to mean deportation there are options. or maybe there aren't maybe i am just ignorant.

make a big deal about borders, border agents, and illegals entering from Mexico, yet have very few agents and fences to protect us from the white people entering via Canada?

In other words: if all illegal immigration is bad, why has no one proposed that we build a wall across our border with Canada, as many have proposed we do with our Mexican border?
I know we believe there are more illegals coming in from Mexico, but wouldn't that also be possibly flawed since we wouldn't truly know if our new white neighbor is from Oklahoma or Ontario.....it is not as if any new guy in town will announce he is illegal.

I read this story about a boy who came here illegally when his mother sent for him. The boy came here when he was about 10. When he came, he americanized himself. He went to public school, learned English and made friends, dated girls and lived the life of an average American teen after he learned the language. He then completed something most illegal immigrants do not in their lifetime: he graduated high school. He planned to go to college but can't due to his immigration status. It said that he is now like an average American. In addition, he doesn't fit ANY of the illegal immigrant stereotypes. It said that he speaks fluent English, does not commit crimes, is smart and doesn't hate this country. Most of all, it said that he isn't and NEVER has been on public assistance (his family is here legally and work normal jobs and support him so he doesn't need it). So he is kind of just here. Do you think he should stay? If so, is there a way that he can?

I have applied for the australian student visa for over a month now & till now they have not given it. Why are they taking so long? On the webpage they said, it takes 4weeks. but it has been 6weeks now. Is this normal? Can i still travel even if my classes start before i get back my passport?

Luis Gonzalez-Mireles was punished more for being an illegal alien than for first-time drunken driving when he was sentenced to 93 days in jail, Circuit Judge Chad Schmucker ruled.

Schmucker found the sentence by District Judge Joseph Filip improper and disproportionate, and sent it back to District Court for an appropriate sentence.

In most cases, that means little or no jail time.
Gonzalez-Mireles, 21, of Ann Arbor was charged with drunken driving in Jackson on Dec. 18. Filip, citing the Mexican native's failure to seek citizenship here, issued a maximum sentence.

``I don't know any reason why as an illegal alien that we should spend money and services for you,'' Filip told Gonzalez-Mireles at his sentencing. ``You've done nothing but violate the law here.''

When lawyers for Gonzalez-Mireles motioned for resentencing, Filip reiterated that he did not appreciate illegal aliens thumbing their noses at America's immigration laws.

In his decision, dated Tuesday, Schmucker said he is sending the case to another district judge ``to preserve the appearance of justice and fairness.''

Both prosecutors and the probation department recommended no jail time at sentencing May 17.

``We believe this was an extraordinary case, for a person to be sentenced to the maximum on a first offense based on immigration status,'' American Civil Liberties Union attorney Michael Steinberg said Tuesday.

He argued the appeal on Oct. 7 before Schmucker.

How can the ACLU defend this person? Doesn’t the “A” in ACLU mean American?? This illegal alien is NOT an American and is therefore not entitled to those “Civil Liberties” that the ACLU is trying to defend. Starting from the federal level, the judge should have had him deported because a federal violation should trump the state violation because it is a harsher crime committed.

Someone earlier asked a question about employing "house staff"- people that care for the children, clean their home, and, do lawn care. I am amazed at how many people are outraged by this issue. I understand it if it was because they were employing the undocumented, but, calling her lazy because she elects to have someone else do these things? Is it because she is employing the undocumented, or, do you generally look down upon people that hire help?

to that people that think that givin drivers liscenes to illegals is wrong and bad. in oregon and washington illegals are gettin drivers liscences; there have been no fruad claims against any illegal , the crime rate hasnt gone up, we rarely hear of an illegal killin somebody in a d.u.i charge, illegals are usually hsipanic; hispanics have no interest in caring out any terrorist attack, the people that hijacked the planes on 9/11 were u.s citizens, in oregon the leadin cause of fraud is from meth users that are 95% of the time u.s citizens . so why dont we stop thinking about the ILLEGALS that are 30,40,50, but think about the illegal that is 5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19,20. does the 5 year old that is illegal now, we'll be in illegal in 10 years, that illegal 15yrd old wont be able to get his permit EVER, because HE may get a gun, HE may hijack some planes, HE will use it for crimminal activities. what do you say to that 5yrld if he was in front of you? what are your views?
