If you are a citizen of the UK then living abroad will not affect that fact. When you arrive in the Philippines you get a free 21 day visa. Before the 21 days are up go to ANY Philippine Bureau of Immigration to extend your visa another 38 days making 59 days. Before that time is up return to ANY Philippine Bureau of Immigration to extend another 59 days. You can keep extending your visa for 18 months before you have to leave the country overnight to restart the process. When going to extend your visa take your passport, a copy of the info page, a copy of your arrival page, you airplane ticket showing either return date or an ongoing flight, a local friend & about 5,000 pesos.
