50,000 Irish vs 30,000,000 Mexicans.

It's a question of numbers and priority.

So many Americans think that illegal = Mexican.
Technically the Irish are not illegal immigrants as they come from a visa waiver country and simply overstay. The British are even worse at doing this than the Irish. Anyone who abuses the right to visit this country should be sent back where they came from.

I'm from Ireland and it makes me sick when I see things in the media about those poor illegal Irish immigrants who can't come home. I'm sorry, but why didn't they just do it legally in the first place? They have nobody else to blame but themselves.

If you are talking about the ones that came in during the potato famine, they were processed through Ellis Island and were legal.

If we have 50,000 illegal Irish aliens in this country, they have to be shipped out and the requirements for tourist visas strengthened.

Do you have a link on that?

I doubt there's 50,000 Irish people in the country illegally (ie who entered without inspection), maybe you mean people who are out of status becuase they've overstayed their visas or their authorised stay given on their I-94/I-94W?

Yup, overstays are a problem - being out of status and entering without inspection are not one and the same thing, though.

Illegal is illegal. There are many illegal Chinese too! They need to go home and do it right, I did it legally.
Unfortunaely, even though our country is communist, Chinese have a discourging time with immigration. They hang them up and stall if you are Chinese.
I had ro wait 3 years after the interview and they did nothing.
Finally my husband hired one of the best American educated lawers in LA and I got my greencard in ONE MONTH! tell me about fair government for Chinese immigrant!

At there time of entry this country had alot mroe abundant resources. As well as the fact there were little to no socialized assistance programs i.e. welfare, unemployment, social security etc. for illegal immigrants to take advantage of that cost citizens money

And you are??????? The Mexicans have more right to be here than most from my eyes. I still don't understand how many try to enforce English( a European language) on those who speak Spanish( Spain). When the cultures from this land (you might call it America) were talking in many varieties of languages. Mexicans(which came from indigenous tribes such as Aztec, Inca, and Mayan) have always been here along with the other tribes, so what gives you the right to question any ones admittance to our land. Have you all forgotten that Mexicans were forced out of California, New Mexico, Arizona, and Texas territories? They have always been here.

They should be deported to Ireland. At least they can't sneak across the border, unless they try to come in a private boat and land on the eastern coast.

Visa overstayers are a concern as are anyone else. As far as entitlement...even citizens shouldn't feel that. We can't live forever on the blood sweat and tears of our forefathers. We today also need to do our part in keeping our country great.
