I'm thinking about quitting my job soon, and would like to stay in the UK for 6-8 weeks after I quit before returning to the US. I've heard that once employment is terminated, the visa is no longer good and you have <2 weeks to leave. Is this true? Can I just stay and then leave in 2 months with no problem? Or can I leave the country soon after I quit and then come back right away on a tourist visa?

i was reading an immigration question and one guy was pissed that they were forcing kids to learn spanish in school. oh **** what a waste of class time. learning something in sschool that is actually useful. in most countries children learn english in their schools taught in their native language. actually in china teens are paying for outside tutoring in english. we should require students to learn a second language earlier then 7th grade. it should begin as early as possible. it will ne easier for them to learn as language is still developing for them.

I am a foreigner in Turkey and my country needs my fingerprints to do a background check for my American visa application.
The police in my country said I could send them my fingerprints taken officially from the Turkish police.
How do I go about doing this since I don't speak Turkish and I am sure the Police in Istanbul don't speak English.
Please can you give me suggestions to overcome this problem?

I am back home on a re-entry visa from Saudi Arabia. But I have got a better offer from another company in Saudi. Now I want to cancell the existing visa and stamp the new one in my passport. So I would like to know, what all are the steps through which it will go, if I proceed my passport with NOC for the above mentioned purpose. What are the possible ways to perform it without the knowledge of my current employer.

I dont know who controls yahoo but I am sick and tired of getting violations just for stating my opinion in illegal immigration! Am I the only one who this happens to? I have seen so many offensive questions and answers from the pro illegals themselves and they dont get deleted! What yahoo does is such an injustice. But I have a feeling I am being reported by the pro illegal themselves. Why doesnt yahoo delete their offensive questions and answers as well?? I have as much right to state my opinions a anybody else.

dollar level of funds sent back home to their familys from their labors here in the USA,many of those people may be using mine or your SSNumber to allow taxes to be taken out of their pay checks so their can appear to be working legally, that money is going to the US government and the latin workers will never see a penny of it, my question is who is removing it from your yearly earnings total ,if this is really going on then you can see the flaw ,The benifits to a bank account of money made by people who don't exist could be a nice thing to retire on, so could this give reason to the rejection of a immigration reform bill to make those people real and give their tax money a point to return to later in life after all their years of work, if they are already here and have been for years working paying rent buying cars buying food, paying tax on many things, who is stealing from who in this arrangment, and have you ever gotten medical treatment without paying, so how can they, whats up?

I recently answered a question with this but I think it deserves it's own spot for proper focus.

A minimum wage job pays about 13k annually (before taxes) IF they get a full 40. So after taxes they have about 900-980 a month depending on filing status and children.

The cheapest apartment I could find locally was a 2 room efficiency for $375 a month (note not a 2-bed, a 2-ROOM)

food will cost at least $100 person per month

Utilities would be cheaper for a small apartment so lets say $150 for electric & heat. $20 for water.

If you have a job you'll need a car so $200 for a car payment and $30 for insurance throw in $40 for gas

$25 for a phone (cheap for a landline)

let's see I've covered rent, utilities, food and transportation what's left? Oh clothes, toiletries, cleaning supplies and other little things, hmm.... we'll go cheap here to and say $20 a month.

What do we have so far .... $960 a month to live in a 2 room hovel and eat raman noodles on a regular basis.

Don't get me wrong I love mexicans...and other assorted latino immigrants, my X girlfriend was mexican and i like tacos. But i have this huge petpeave...I cannot frikin stand it when I encounter latino folks who live in America and can't understand even the simplist English clauses. How do these people's brains work??? If I were to visit France I would take a few days to learn some basic French so that I wouldn't be a total outcast. But there are immigrants who visit America for years at a time sometimes perminantly and still dont know what a fork is...and it's not like they don't have the resources to learn english...We let them get away with it by printing out Spanish translations for everything from DMV tests to voter registration...I have no ill-will towards these people but when I encounter one I choose to ignore them because they already (by inaction) choose NOT to learn english with their own stubborn apathy. If you don't speak spanish, how do you respond to one of these folks?

If you are not a citizen of the U.S. but are a legal resident they could fill out papers and file to make the child a U.S. citizen.

If they are just visiting or illegal (no U.S. citizenship) what do you think?

I personally don't. They haven't done anything in the past 7 years about having the immigration laws enforced, what is to make them enforce any other laws? The only reason why they are enforcing the current laws now (a few raids which have detained a small number of people) is because the amnesty bill failed and they are trying to get people's eyes off of the non-enforcement so they can try to push amnesty again in the next few months.

LOS ANGELES - An illegal immigrant who sought sanctuary in a Chicago church for a year to avoid deportation and separation from her 8-year-old American son was arrested Sunday, the church's pastor said.
Elvira Arellano was arrested before 3 p.m. outside Our Lady Queen of Angels church on L.A.'s historic Olvera Street where she had been speaking to reporters, said the Rev. Walter Coleman, pastor of Adalberto United Methodist Church in Chicago where she sought sanctuary.

Coleman said he was with Arellano when she was detained, but declined to provide other details.

"We're trying to determine her situation right now," he said.

It was unclear what law enforcement agency had taken Arellano into custody.

A call to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement was not immediately returned.

The 32-year-old Arellano arrived in Los Angeles on Saturday, leaving her sanctuary for the first time in a year to campaign for immigration reform.

Arellano has become a symbol of the struggles of illegal immigrant parents and a source of controversy. She had said Saturday she was not afraid of being taken into custody by immigration agents.

"From the time I took sanctuary the possibility has existed that they arrest me in the place and time they want," she said in Spanish. "I only have two choices. I either go to my country, Mexico, or stay and keep fighting. I decided to stay and fight."

Arellano came to Washington state illegally in 1997. She was deported to Mexico shortly after, but returned and moved to Illinois in 2000, taking a job cleaning planes at O'Hare International Airport.

She was arrested in 2002 at O'Hare and later convicted of working under a false Social Security number. She was to surrender to authorities last August.

She sought refuge at the storefront church on Chicago's West Side Aug. 15, 2006. She had not left the church property until deciding to be driven to Los Angeles, Coleman said.Elvira Arellano was arrested before 3 p.m. outside Our Lady Queen of Angels church on L.A.'s historic Olvera Street where she had been speaking to reporters, said the Rev.
