Having had a little experience dealing with this group on the management side versus the teamsters, it sounds pretty much like there intent is to take care as in damage, stop, deacivate, etc. Not a pleasant group to deal with.

Well, economy wise, you don't want Mexican trucks to come into the country, i'm sure i don't have to go down the list of negative effects that this would ave on not just the economy, but jobs wise, and even illegal immigration increases. On top of that, most Americans don't want Mexican "drivers" on the roads. Don't get me wrong its not because they're Mexican, but simply because in Mexico there are different driving practices than in the US. So putting all these factors, and many more long term effects of course, it would not be in the US's best interest to allow Mexican trucks to enter into US soil. The weird part though, that i still don't understand is that George Bush is 100% behind it. He is supporting (monetarily) the building of ports every 60 miles all along the Baja California coast, making it even more possible for the truckers to pick up their exports.

I know the teamsters don't have a very good reputation, but without them we wouldn't have the great Benefits that we do have. Even if the company that your working for doesn't have union, but have good benefits, they have this because they don't want unions to enter. If unions wouldn't exist everyone would still be working 15+ hour shifts, 7 days a week, with no benefits or retirement plans, and working minimum wage for the rest of your life with no hope of any increase. Employers would be able to fire people at any time, and for any reason. Unions make these companies liable for their actions, and provide great benefits for not just the employees but their families...not to mention those 2 weeks of vacation you take a year, and your paid sick leave.

Teamsters are just trying to prevent these trucks from entering the country, I don't believe they mean anything illegal...just maybe a nice threat to keep people on their toes...Now a days everything is done legally...

Remember in the past the Teamsters have had a violent nature during strikes and negotiations, I suspect that in some form their will be violence against trucks with Mexican licenses.
