Immigration - May 2007

[Selected]: All categories Politics & Government Immigration

Right now President Bush is holding a press conference in washington, and may I add he is interupting my Price is Right..... anyway, he had mentioned that his plan for immigration is to tell illegal workers here to just admit that they broke the law, pay a fine, then become documented workers here....if they already have a job?

I personally think this is a great idea, but I dont see too many illegal workers stepping forward to pay a fine, but I guess it is better than being deported.

Is this the downfall of the greatest country on earth?

Will history remember America, the greatest fighting nation of the 20th century not defeated as a result of terrorists, world war, nuclear or biological menace ... but by the insidious threat of illegal immigration?

Are we being annexed by Mexico and Central America?
Is American culture being assimilated and overcome through illegal immigration?

Is "America the Great" becoming a joke as we "bend over and grab the soap" while the world watches our country get anally fornicated by our impotent immigration policies and greedy politicians?

How should we respond as a people to our current immigration woes?

amnesty?

They KNOW we dont' want it...(I really dont' care what the MINORITY of the people want) the MAJORITY DOES NOT WANT IT.

What are we going to do when they grant it?

We know they are going to...just a matter of time.

House Minority Leader John Boehner, speaking to a private gathering of Republican activists last night, called the Senate's immigration compromise bill a "piece of ****" but said that he had promised President Bush earlier in the day that he would let his teeth be a barrier to such thoughts in public.

ok so Americans protest to let their elected representatives know their feelings on an issue. Politicains respond to gain votes and stay in office. that is how democracy works. But if you are not represented in the government and you cannot vote, what significance is your protesting. I am not arguing for or against policies relating to immigration. I just want to know why people expect some one elses government to be effected by their protest.

i'm so sick of people telling me that i need an illegal to scrub my darn toilet. please. the illegals i see in my town are buiding houses (taking away from our local builders), cleaning motels rooms (taking away from our military wives who used to do that), doing road work (which paid a lot and was a great job for an american).
i watch my own kids, don't have a pool, wash my own car, grow stuff in my own garden, mow my own lawn and, most importantly, i've taken a job away from an illegal, I SCRUB MY OWN TOILET

Force everyone that is for amnesty to take personal and financial responsibility for an illegal alien family. The sponsoring family must pay 100% of all costs (education, medical, etc) associated with the illegal aliens.

That way, the other taxpayers will not be stuck with a 3.4 trillion dollar bill!

Resolved, illegal immigration is a legal, moral, economic, and evironmental threat to America; the fence along the Mexican border should be finished and all illegals deported.

Do you agree or disagree?

Why?

(...just curious)

I think a "legal status" so they don't have to fear deportation is good enough for them.

Why do people keep calling the immigration bill an amnesty bill? It makes no sense.

What does this new Immigration Bill mean for those people who have been waiting in line, in many cases for years, to legally become citizens?

If this bill passes, the the Immigration and Naturalization system will be so overwhelmed and abused that these people are bound to get screwed. Why is there no consideration for them in this bill?

What will happen is that the people who have been honest and worked hard to make sure their applications were sufficient and who have RESPECTED OUR LAWS will be tossed in among the applications of CRIMINALS who have disrespected the U.S. and its citizens, snubbed our laws, and shown no remorse for cheating U.S. citizens who pay taxes and fulfil their other civic obligations.

Does anyone disagree?

Those support the "new" Immigration Bill out of your minds?

First of all, I heard news today that the airlines this summer will be sticking travelers with higher prices and more delays than ever seen - not because of petrolium prices, but because they are not able to handle the load of travelers that expect tickets.

The welfare system is so weighed down that it is crumbling before our eyes. There is no way to consistantly regulate or enforce the "safeguards" that have been installed in the system to prevent abuse.

Prison overcrowding is at its peak with the average prison being filled to 119% capacity.

Public schools in many areas are not able to expand fast enough to effectively acomodate the student load.

AND YOU PEOPLE WANT TO ALLOW 12 MILLION MORE PEOPLE (PLUS THE UP TO 4 FAMILY MEMBERS PER APPLICANT) TO ENTER THIS COUNTRY OVER THE NEXT 6 YEARS?????????

My strong anti-opinion of illegal immigration has me approaching the boundary line of hate. I do not want to become this person.

Any advice to help me focus on the issue and not the illegals behind the problem.
