Is this the downfall of the greatest country on earth?

Will history remember America, the greatest fighting nation of the 20th century not defeated as a result of terrorists, world war, nuclear or biological menace ... but by the insidious threat of illegal immigration?

Are we being annexed by Mexico and Central America?
Is American culture being assimilated and overcome through illegal immigration?

Is "America the Great" becoming a joke as we "bend over and grab the soap" while the world watches our country get anally fornicated by our impotent immigration policies and greedy politicians?

How should we respond as a people to our current immigration woes?

For all of you who might wonder. I am an immigrant too ... except that I took the time and effort to fill out the forms, wait patiently in line for my time and submit myself to the process of immigration .... because I respect this country and in keeping the law and becoming a good productive member of society.

As you can probably tell by many of the responses that are being posted, immigration is going to hurt this country because people are ignorant of the true threat we face. It is true that our nation was built by immigrants, but it is also true that they were legal immigrants. If people want to come to this country, no problem, stand in line. But what we face is a large population group that has no respect or regard for our laws. Living in a boarder state and working closely with law enforcement, many of these people do not want to assimilate and breaking into our country is not the only crime they have committed costing California 1.4 BILLION annually in incarceration costs alone. Socially and economically, illegals cost California $10.5 BILLION per year. A good indication of this economic impact is that fact that ER hospitals all over California are closing due to the raising costs of treating illegals. Dividing this cost by the number legal tax pays in California means everyone pays more than a $1,000 per year just to cover the cost of illegals. I can think of a lot better ways of spending a $1,000 than paying for an illegal to sit in jail or bankrupt my local hospital.

We need to understand the true nature of the problem. We control immigration not to keep out other cultures, but rather to control the supply of labor in the economy. (More demand for labor + lower supply = higher, living wages.)

We have already assimilated much of the culture into our own, in our own unique way. How many people have their kids swing at a Dora the Explorer pinata on their birthday? There's nothing at all wrong with society evolving over time. That's natural and healthy.

What's unhealthy is the way illegal immigration is being used to bust unions and destroy the middle class. It's just another piece of the puzzle, along with outsourcing to India/Asia, H1-B visas, etc. The reason you don't see politicians doing anything about it is because the multi-national corporations want to cut the cost of labor down to the bone. So they've bribed nearly every politician on the state and Federal level.

If these corporations *have* to hire someone in the United States, it's a lot cheaper to import someone from a dirt-poor nation who will work at half the salary, thus the H1-B visa problem. Or they just ask "coyotes" to bring illegal workers up from Mexico. You don't get much cheaper than pennies a day... especially illegal laborers. It's not like they can complain to the government about being cheated out of money.

The source of all these problems are corporations who are no longer American. They've abandoned our shores to avoid taxes and fair labor laws. Even Halliburton is moving offshores. That's just unacceptable -- we're giving billions of dollars to a company that's thumbing its nose at our country.

We have to punish these companies that engage in these practices. Moved your headquarters offshore? Fine, but no more U.S. government contracts for you. Replacing your U.S. workers with cheap foreign labor? No more tax deductions for anything. Hiring illegals? Off to jail you go.

I'm sick and tired of the American people giving corporate welfare to these companies that are screwing us.

Pravda is not extra a "Rag" than the N.Y. circumstances or Washington submit, that are just to help the single-sided Liberal point of view. the backside-line is that human beings examine Pravda -- hence that's influential, inspite of opinion. To the ingredient -- What Pravda wrote would not worry me -- the entire international owing to Obama, DOES think of that "American capitalism going with a whimper?" ...and this "infuriates me" !!

I swore in my oath of enlistment to defend this country from all enemies both foreign and domestic and I hold that oath very dear to my heart right before my wedding vows and even though I've been out of the service for 15 years now I'll still defend her with every last breath in my body and every drop of my blood

Hi. Did you know that until Ronald Reagan ended funding for family planning in foreign aid to Latin America, the economic growth rate there was faster than the population growth rate? That meant people there had economic incentive to stay home. Then Reagan eliminated family planning from foreign aid there, and the population growth rate increased to exceed the economic growth rate, meaning no matter how you cut the economic pie, everyone there was getting poorer. That was the incentive for them to come here. You reap what you sow. Look before you leap. Be careful of what you wish for. There are a ton of old maxims that Reagan could have thought about. But he didn't. This is only the start of the wave. Thank Reagan.

We the people need to have these laws enforced. To both the employers, landlords and such who claim that they ned them here illegally. And as well to our representives who claim to be protecting our interest.

Federal Immigration and Nationality Act
Section 8 USC 1324(a)(1)(A)(iv)(b)(iii)

"Any person who . . . encourages or induces an alien to . . . reside . . . knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that such . . . residence is . . . in violation of law, shall be punished as provided . . . for each alien in respect to whom such a violation occurs . . . fined under title 18 . . . imprisoned not more than 5 years, or both."

Section 274 felonies under the federal Immigration and Nationality Act, INA 274A(a)(1)(A):

A person (including a group of persons, business, organization, or local government) commits a federal felony when she or he:

* assists an alien s/he should reasonably know is illegally in the U.S. or who lacks employment authorization, by transporting, sheltering, or assisting him or her to obtain employment, or

* encourages that alien to remain in the U.S. by referring him or her to an employer or by acting as employer or agent for an employer in any way, or agent for an employer in any way, or

* knowingly assists illegal aliens due to personal convictions

Penalties upon conviction include criminal fines, imprisonment, and forfeiture of vehicles and real property used to commit the crime. Anyone employing or contracting with an illegal alien without verifying his or her work authorization status is guilty of a misdemeanor. Aliens and employers violating immigration laws are subject to arrest, detention, and seizure of their vehicles or property. In addition, individuals or entities who engage in racketeering enterprises that commit (or conspire to commit) immigration-related felonies are subject to private civil suits for treble damages and injunctive relief.

Anyone who believes these days that our appointed politicians have our best interest at heart in this issue and many others - is truly wearing a pair of colored glasses.

In the words of Theodore Roosevelt

From the melting pot of life in this free land all men and woman of all nations who come hither emerge as Americans and nothing else. They must have renounced completely and without reserve all allegiance to the land from which they or their forefathers came. And it is a binding duty on every citizen of this country in every important crisis to act solidly with all his fellow Americans, having regard only to the honor and interest of America, treating every other nation purely on its conduct in that crisis, without reference to his ancestral predilections or antipathies. If he does not act, he is false to the teachings and lives of Washington and Lincoln; he is not entitled to any part or lot in our country and he should be sent out of it. (Theodore Roosevelt, "The Children of the Crucible" New York, Sept. 9, 1917)

And since our politicians are only acting for their own interest - I believe that they too are not entitled to any part or lot in our country and s/he should be sent out of it.

P.S. Makes you feel like a republican page boy doesn't it?! (Mark Foley incident)

all the immigrants I know and see want more American things than Americans. They drive all the Chevys and drink Budweiser. One generation and they are totally American and this trend has happened over and over again for centuries.

"greatest fighting nation"? This is the legacy you want? Not most inventive, not freest or most just, or best quality of living? You want America to be know as "greatest fighting"?

And remember - in my part of the country, Spain and Mexico were here first.
