What does this new Immigration Bill mean for those people who have been waiting in line, in many cases for years, to legally become citizens?

If this bill passes, the the Immigration and Naturalization system will be so overwhelmed and abused that these people are bound to get screwed. Why is there no consideration for them in this bill?

What will happen is that the people who have been honest and worked hard to make sure their applications were sufficient and who have RESPECTED OUR LAWS will be tossed in among the applications of CRIMINALS who have disrespected the U.S. and its citizens, snubbed our laws, and shown no remorse for cheating U.S. citizens who pay taxes and fulfil their other civic obligations.

Does anyone disagree?

I've been arguing this very point, and getting beat up for it. We're giving the people of questionable judgement, who have broken our immigration laws, preference over the law abiding that are trying to do things the right way. We should let all of the legal immigrants in asap, THEN get around to the others.

I am not shocked at all by the amount of racism and ignorance in this forum. Until you educate yourselves about the role the American government has played in depleting all natural resources in those countries, supporting dictators and corrupt governments, then you cannot discuss the illegal immigration topic with a full understanding of these people's situations. Additionally, don't you realize that America needs this labor force? Why do you think the government doesn't secure the borders and why do you think that the American government is so against Leftist governements in Latin America? If governments that were considered "communist" in places like Guatemala had not been overthrown by the CIA, then the economy would have been better in those countries and there wouldn't be so many immigrants seeking refuge here. Blame the government and blame yourselves for not keeping the government accountable

It seems like this bill makes everybody miserable, and no one seems to like it. The more I read about it, the worse the compromise seems to get. It makes becoming a citizen so hard that only criminals will even bother. It creates a situation that will create more law breakers. And worst of all it doesn't solve the huge problem of illegal immigration that is already here.

Short answer: The potential immigrants following the rules will remain waiting at the back of the line. The new immigration bill is not about justice but political expediency.

The people who followed the law will get screwed while the criminals who violated our immigration laws will get amnesty! They will even get amnesty for ID theft, using fake documents, and belonging to a gang, and the govt will pay any lawyer fees that they illegals incur. Is this an insane law or what?

It means that criminals, again, will get the same, and sometimes more, rights, than law abiding people. This doesn't apply to just immigrants, illegal or otherwise. This applies to criminals in the United States.
Criminals often have more 'rights' than I do.
This is bullsh*t.
UNACCEPTABLE!

Should this ignorant piece of dung pass, only those illegals who wish to become citizens will be punished. The rest get a Z visa and can stay as long as they like and rape our social services like locust.
Keep up the pressure and let your politicians know who has who's future in their hands.

WRONG. Criminals? Ok, i assume you watch bill o reilly and lou dobbs? Those people that have been waiting for years and can afford to do so are probably middle class citizens of that country, if you have a family that's starving you cannot afford to wait years. You're family isn't going to survive. You don't know the real story, only one side. And face it, we are here to stay.

It means 12 million people 'cut' in ahead of them. It means they get to shake thier heads and wonder "why didn't I just sneak in?"

Some of them may also wonder "Why did I want to go to such an F'd-up country anyway?"
