I am a liberal and I am not for amnesty. And in case you did not know, there are many illegal aliens from all over Europe in America. Polish, Irish, Russian and Greek communities in the Chicago area have a great many illegal immigrants living in them, so there.
I think that amnesty is an affront to the all the legal immigrants and I do not understand how legal immigrants feel about illegal immigrants having a chance at citizenship simply by having eluded the law for a necessary number of years.
The real beneficiaries of illegal aliens are not the aliens, but the companies who abuse them. It is the businesses that undermine local economies by keeping dollars that would be paid in wage, taxes and fees out of the economy and forcing others to bear their burdens. Keep in mind, it is not that citizens of this nation would not do the work that is now being done by illegal immigrants, it is that citizens will not do that work for those wages.
So if there is any political group that would enjoy illegal amnesty, it would be fiscal conservatives, not liberals.

The amnesty laws ARE for everyone. Not matter what country they are from, what race, color, or creed. My ancestors came to this country legally. They learned English BEFORE they got here and abided by our laws, became citizens. Being liberal has nothing to do with illegal immigration reform. Being an upstanding US citizen that is tired of all the illegals flooding our country, using up our resources crosses all paryt lines.

I had a discussion not long ago with a US citizen(born here), about the whole immigration thing. He was very conservative in his views about immigration, despite the fact that his parents were immigrants too. Any way, I am from Eastern Europe with a green card, but I do know a lot of people also from there who have overstaid their visas and all of them have tried all they can to renew them or adjust their status samehow, just so they wont become illigal and most of them have failed. Now only an immigrant who have gone trough the hardship of fighting the mess that the immigration laws are, will understand this.If you were born here, dont try to tell me other way, simply because you have NO idea!!!!!
Of course faced with the choice of going back to their own countries, where despite the fact that they have a bachelors degree, there are no jobs waiting for them or if they could find something it will be for about 160-180$ per month. The exact same thing that led them to seek a better life elsewere!!!
I dont care what you think, but I cant blame anybody for trying to live normal life, not in poverty.
None of this people have criminal records, many own their own homes,I havent heard of any one to go to the hospital without paying for it or get any other kind of free service, which is just the way people from Eastern Europe and whole Europe are raised.
They work as nannys, waitresses, drivers and allmost all of them pay their cut to the IRS,of course without having any returns and they have their own SSN,which were given to them with their visas. These people are here from many years and are very good english speakers.I think they deserve a chance, even if they have to wait 13YEARS with the new immigration proposal to even be considered for green cards!
So,to get back to the US citizen I was talking about, you know what he told me.....HE said:''For people from Eastern Europe we should make an exception, because we need more white people in this country!!!!!"

i guess you don't realize how many illegal aliens there are in america from eastern europe. we have an entire subdivision of them in my county. a reletively crime free area, when a car goes missing in this town local police send a wrecker out to this subdivision to recover it.
they come to america on visa and get lost in these communities. growing up in the soviet union, they lack the work ethic of the mexicans that come to this area to pick fruit and do other work on local farms. around here we have practiced amnesty for years; republican and democrat alike.

There are a great many illegal aliens from Eastern Europe. All illegal immigrants should be treated equally. I think your emphasis on liberals is misplaced. I think some conservatives are more likely to want to treat European illegal immigrants differently from Latino immigrants.

It's not an issue of where they're from. It's the cons who have a hang up about that, lumping every illegal alien into the "Mexican" umbrella.

I don't know about liberals, but I can imagine conservatives welcoming the influx of white people with horror stories about the communist bogeyman with open arms, illegal, legal, or quasi-legal.
