Have those who advocate that only those who speak English receive American citizenship considered that they would be casting deaf mutes out of America?

Doesn't it make sense to defend this porous border? Wouldn't the benefits far outweigh the costs of such a measure?

Imagine a street. Run down, not very appealing, but at the end of the street is a nice big house with a swimming pool.
All the people in the street envy the big house and want to live there. But until recently they were only invited in occasionally for a brief visit.
Now people have started moving into the spare rooms of the house and camping in the garden, and the family that built the house are finding it cramped and noisey.
But the people from the other houses have now started inviting their friends and families over too andf things are becoming really crowded, AND the family who owns the house are being told they have to queu for the bathroom like everyone else.

Is it not unfair that the people who built the house now have to share it, especially as they didn't invite the others to do so?

The tallest woman in the world (2003) Zainab Bibi (7ft 2in) is happily living in UK on benefits after claiming asylum because she is "too tall" to return home. The Home Office has already granted her a two year visa to remain in the UK.
Miss Bibi prefers to live on benefits and not work. She has in the past used her height to earn money making public appearances. Earlier this year an American icecream company, Baskin-Robbins offered her special promotional work. After 15 days she claimed she was unable to work due to diabetes.
No wonder she loves life in UK and even says "I have diabetes and I can get treatment for free here, unlike in Pakistan, where it is more expensive."
She lives in a council flat with no rent or council tax to pay. Now she even plans to send money back home to her family.

This can only happen in 'potty' Britain.

Just for my own late-night curiosity.
If you can just sound off
1) if you do or do not oppose illegal immigration
2) your ethnic background plus if you yourself immigrated to this country
3) What state do you currently reside in

Ill go first.

1) I dont oppose illegal immigration.
2) I am a legal immigrant from Mexico
3) I currently work and live in California

I'm inquisitive, that's all.

I'm referring to the flag of St. George. I met some English army reservists who are training at Fort Hood in the United States, and they were telling me some prety depressing things, like that the flag of England cannot be flown on public buildings anymore because it is offensive to Muslims who associate it with the Crusades. Is this true? And if so, how can you stand for such madness?

What do people oppose, illegal immigration or south of the border immigration, be it legal or illegal. Sometimes when I read the responses, they are outright racist. Is it the fear/hate that someday they we will live next door to you, go to school with you, and eventually join you for family reunions?

Make all illegals leave the United States, and apply for a visa. The visa application will take no more than 3 months and cost less than 500 dollars. There will be a database with employers posting jobs and those immigrants matched to jobs. Those who get it, get in. Those who dont, get their 500 dollars back. Preference is given to trading partners.
Employers will have to pay the upkeep of the database.
Pretty sure that will cut down 90% of all illegal immigration.

Everyone who breaks the law deserves justice.

The issue isn't immigration, it is ILLEGAL immigration.

Beside the fact that they enter unlawfully, it is a felony to provide false identification in the U.S.

My point is that this path leads to more violations of our laws.

If being poor and having a difficult life were acceptable excuses for breaking the law, we could set 95% of prisoners free.

We hold criminals accountable, don't we?

I know if you aren't legal, you can't get help from the government, and even if you have a kid who born here you need to be legal to get help. I think it is better for America if people who is already here stay illegal than legal, and when they work, they can,t have bank account good, you know what happen next, when they sick they didn't go to hospital cause they don't want to get deported. please put your oppinion don't be disrespectful
