Make all illegals leave the United States, and apply for a visa. The visa application will take no more than 3 months and cost less than 500 dollars. There will be a database with employers posting jobs and those immigrants matched to jobs. Those who get it, get in. Those who dont, get their 500 dollars back. Preference is given to trading partners.
Employers will have to pay the upkeep of the database.
Pretty sure that will cut down 90% of all illegal immigration.

The 500 dollar fee is to cover administrative expenses. Like a lawyer that only charges when he wins your case. Besides, if they are able to pay coyotes 500 smackers, I am pretty sure they will pay 500 to get in safely.
But I do agree, it will never be implemented because no matter how much everyone whines, businesses profit too much from illegals. By being illegal they get exploited.

Ok. This process is voluntary. During the 1986 amnesty, you had to file, pay all sorts of fees and wait a long time to get your visa. Everyone that's here illegaly works, they must or how else will they survive. And by garanteeing a short turn around, they will definitely take a chance. Well, even make it at the local embassies. If you have a job, can get a job, then it's a small risk for a big benefit.

Your idea is great as stated, but once the govt gets involved then they start creating some criteria that would disqualify 80% of the applicants so we would be back to square one. They will say, but you need a high school diploma, or you could not have been illegally in the USA for more than a year, or you could have never been deported, etc... I know, because that is what they have done with all the immigration laws in the past and that is why we are always in need of more and more reform.

Who is going to track down all the illegals and how will they be paid for their work?

Where are you going to house the illegals once you have them rounded up and who will pay for their upkeep?

Who is going to pay for their deportation?

How are you going to handle the extra burden on the judicial system when lawyers, who always smell money to be made, start filing lawsuits on behalf of the illegals?

Do you actually think that all the businesses that employ illegals are going to just sit back and not buy their congressman to stop the massive roundup and deportation? Why do you think the illegals are here in the first place? CHEAP LABOR!

Sorry, but everyone who keeps harping on illegals better get used to the idea that they are here to stay with more coming everyday.

Its a good basic plan, but unless its mandatory how will it help stop the illegal alien? Any thing voluntary will not work,if they don't have the money they will continue to cross illegally..I really wish it could be that simple.Your idea is good but there must be a way to find the illegals already here and to make them comply.Stronger border enforcement of the laws would be a must.
But thank you ,at least it is an idea for helping curtail the problem. No one else seems to be offering too many plans
Certainly not the government..

The measure is more of a prohibition and more than just an income generating system. Immigration must justly be solved without the exorbitant fees.
