Sure, I even think we should have armed towers every 500 feet.
Not so much for the Mexicans, but because as long as our border is so porous, who knows what Islamofascists could cross into our country and blow up Times Square. I wonder why this doesn't occur to the Republicans who with 6 years of anything they want they can have in Congress and the White House and scaring the bejesus out of us on every election ad, still have yet to come up with something serious. If they wanted to, they have had the votes. Wonder why?

Dem here - absolutely we should build the wall - longer if possible.
This Republican administration has done NOTHING to strengthen our border in five years since 9/11. The joke of sending a few more national guards to help train the border patrol is ridiculous. Thankfully the Minute Men finally got the Republicans moving in the right direction.
We still have no protection against terrorists smuggling things in containers into our ports, and there is still no searching/scanning of cargo on planes. The Dems have said they'll fix those things as soon as they get control of the house. I hope so.

I do agree that we need a wall between the US and all borders, including the one to Canada. If people are really concerned about terrorists entering this country they should be more worried about them coming in through Canada.
Canada has a very open immigration policy and the US is much more lax at this border. If America is truly interested in stopping terrorists from entering, we have to find a way to secure all of our borders, not just the one that Mexicans come in through.
I also want to say to Charlie Brown up there and others who think like him that, it is not America's responsibility to solve the problems of Mexico's economy. Maybe if the millions of illegal Mexican immigrants went before their government and demanded better wages, jobs, and educational opportunities there instead of just hopping the border and burdening our economy, they would actually get something done. That's how we made changes in this country. It always makes me furious when people say that if we want illegal immigration to stop America has to help Mexico's economy.

I'm not sure I want to be classified as a Dem anymore, consider me an Independent. However, I am all for building as much and as strong a fence or wall as we can possibly build. It makes sense for deterring illegal immigrants as well as drug runners, criminals of all kinds, and TERRORISTS.
It FAR outweighs the costs!!! Just think about the crime decrease, the tax paid programs that won't be so overburdened, the schools that won't be overcrowded, jobs that will open up and the wages that will start to rise again and on and on. YES!! The fence is part of a network of many things that will deter illegals from coming into the USA and by not hiring them, denying them federal assistance, they have no incentives to come here.

I stay in Arizona the place over one million million ( yup that's NO typo ) Mexicans attempt to come again into this u . s . in keeping with annum. they do no longer do it with-interior the guidelines of this u . s . yet component step them and "pass" to the front of the line rather of waiting their turn. they gained't end coming and the sole answer i will see working is a vast wall to end them. Now if on the different hand we had over one million million Canadians crossing the border i might choose for a wall up there too yet we don't now can we? i'm so tried of Mexicans taking part in the race card to the hilt as quickly as we've a severe issue that desires coping with. On an fairly final notice, this u . s . became born of immigrants and is a super melting pot of persons. no longer one team of those human beings have chosen to split themselves lots as to march the streets carrying a flag that had a distant places international locations markings on it. Do Mexicans fairly need to come again here to stay?/ Or do the merely come here for the money and to no longer replace into an American?

Every democrat I know feels there should be a wall along the border. I would take it a step further and install lasers and other deterring devices along that fence. It's been said that terror networks are assuming Venezuelan identies (thanks to Hugo) and crossing the border via Mexico to infiltrate our country. We need to protect our borders. Unfortunately, it will probably take another atrocious attack on our citizens to get those in power to wake up and really take significant measures.

What people who believe that a fence would be built to keep illegal migration, from the South, from entering our country forget is that such a fence can be used to keep us Americans in.
A little barbed wire and some electricity and we're one big concentration camp.
Besides the vast majority of illegals come across our Northern border with Canada.
