Then WHY since the huge rise of illegal immigration, has the cost of living INCREASED while wages stay the same?

Min. wage has increased at less than 2 dollars in the past 25 yrs, while cost of living has increased threefold!!!

Wages that are not minimum have pretty much stayed the same for the past 30 yrs.--my dad was a small time mechanic over 30 yrs ago at 8 bucks an hour. Mechanics are lucky to get that much today or not much more.

But citizens are lazy because we for the most part do not work jobs under the table, but legal ones. We can't afford to live on min. wage, and illegals can, so they are harder workers?

Where is sympathy for the poor here?? The poor here are assumed to be lazy because they cannot work for such low wages and be able to put their kids in daycare and pay for gas money.

What about people who can't even find jobs? No sympathy because they are citizens. What about homeless here? No sympathy because they are citizens?

How have illegals helped our economy??

The States of Mexico, are only 13. We would be better able to control the drug traffic and secure the borders from terrorists. The only way that they could get in would be through South America. And thats a very thin strip of land compared to the open border country from Texas to California. We could then influence mexicans to speak english, since it is the chosen laguage of the US. Their economy is terrible only because of corruption. Their mob actually runs the government. It would bring the US to sixty four states, heck, we could even bring in the Phillipines, for a round number of 65. The Phillipines and Puerto Rico are all ready US territories.

I recently read this interesting point of view on illegal immigration:

Recently large demonstrations have taken place across the country protesting the fact that Congress is finally addressing the issue of illegal immigration. Certain people are angry that the US might protect its own borders, might make it harder to sneak into this country and, once here, to stay indefinitely. Let me see if I correctly understand the thinking behind these protests. Let's say I break into your house. Let's say that when you discover me in your house, you insist that I leave. But I say, "I've made all the beds and washed the dishes and did the laundry and swept the floors. I've done all the things you don't like to do. I'm hard-working and honest (except for when I broke into your house).

It's illegal. If you come here illegally, you have no rights. I don't understand why some Americans support these criminals.

My dad is acquainted with a Danish man who wants to send his daughter to study at a university in the U.S. He is looking to find someone who would sponsor her to come, and asked my father to help find a sponsor. We might consider doing it ourselves but don't know too much about the process. What exactly is a sponsor supposed to do? What are the responsibilities? What are the risks? Which organizations provide information about this? and so forth.

(By the way, the girl has her own money and would live near the university which is about 50 miles from my home, so I'm not talking about a foreign-exchange student living in our home. I'm simply talking about sponsoring her as an immigrant.)

Berlin -- Germany's president Horst Koehler has appealed to Muslims in the country to feel like Germans, not immigrants.

In a message to mark the feast of Eid al-Fitr, which ends the fasting month of Ramadan next Monday, Koehler said, 'Muslim life is part of German normalcy.' He said change was already under way with young people perceiving themselves less as having foreign origins

Britain's 'open door' policy for workers from the 10 new European Union member states has provoked a backlash, an opinion poll for the Financial Times suggests on Friday.

Some 76 per cent of Britons said there were too many immigrants in their country, in a survey conducted by Harris Interactive - the highest proportion of any big western European country included in the poll.

I have heard that the illegals are taking many of the jobs traditionally done by blacks. Is this true? Is illegal immigration effecting black Americans more than other races somehow? Please, serious, thoughtful answers only and again I profusely apologise if this offends some here.
