Yes, they do contribute with the economy. If you are well informed, you should know that illegal immigrants has been keeping the U.S' inflation a little more stable. As for your "wages," these immigrants are filling low paying jobs, not some executive managerial position. I think you should be concerning more about OUTSOURCING, not illegal immigration when it comes to "paychecks."

I don't care what anyone says the big companies buy out our government to not vote on increasing minimum wage. Why because then they can hire Illegals to do the jobs for 5.15 an hour which is the mimnimum wage in 32 states. While Americans have to figure out what to do about finding a better paying job that is actually hiring. Illegals are mostly affecting the lower and lower middle class americans. Most of these Americans being affected can't afford a computer so they can not come on here and tell their stories. They also are having problems with health care and being denied government funding and so on because of illegals, but that is another topic.

Cost of goods go up with fat unionized people manufacture them. When manufacturing in the U.S. has virtually left for places like Mexico, China and India, American goods are relatively to expensive to compete against foreing made products. Made in America is not enough to compete, you actually need a measurable quality that says your product is better. Monetary policy keeps rates low, causing the dollar to plummet and making our goods cheaper to buy by other nations. This helps bring back money to the U.S. However, this in turns make money easier to get in the U.S. and inflation kicks in.
The illegals will work for less money. Ergo instead of me mowing my lawn and cleaning my house I can pay an illegal Alien cheap money why I work for higher wages. Fruits and vegetables are also cheaper because of the low wage of labor that illegals will accept. Cost to make house with illegals are also cheaper. Illegals do not have an attitude as if government owes them anything. If I buy from a fat union guy who demands holidays, vacation days, breaks, full medical benefits I will have to pay $20 for a damn cheese burger fries and coke.
Most homeless people have some mental illness and or drug and alcohol dependency. In Califonia where hispanics are becoming a majority, welfare recipients are still majority white.

How about this: A long time ago a bunch of cowboys settled this land and made it safe for you and me. Killed and drove those Indians back down into Mexico. My white forefathers shed blood settling this land so my butt and your butt could sit and feel safe today. What I mentioned, you may not agree with but it is basically FACT! Now, here today, we got alot of blue collar workers here in the states, High school grads, or GED holders and you basically have a bunch of politicians that have done nothing to protect jobs and wages for these people. They sat on their hands when all the illegals were coming across. These people are Americans with families that have paid taxes over generations and built the schools that these illegals are now going too.. And then you have people like chainreaction! What chainreaction fails to realize is that when the divide between rich and poor becomes to wide after she and her kind has accomodated everyone except for white blue collar workers.. Well, I'll leave it at this - The South will Rise Again!

YOU CAN'T blame the economy's problems on illegals, PLEASE! They don't have that much power, in numbers or in influence!.....Did you know the hispanic population consists of 44.2 million and out of those there are 12 million illegals....There are 239.9 million 'white' Americans, who have much more of an affect on our economy! SO HOW DO YOU FIGURE THE COST OF LIVING HAS INCREASED WHILE WAGES STAY THE SAME?
The real culprits are the few richest people that make up 0.5% who make the real impact on our economy.....They affect policy and control the MONEY....Get a clue!

No illegals are not good for the economy!!
Illegals send most of the money they earn back to their own county, so how does that help the US economy??
They take jobs away from Americans, so how does that help the US economy??
They raise healthcare costs for Americans, so how does that help the US economy??
Schools, police, hospitals, etc are having to pay to learn Spanish (since illegals won't learn English) taking money away from other resources, so how does that help the US economy??

GIVE ME A BREAK! Not the asker, but some of these answers!
You people need to do me a favor. Go sit in the waiting room of an emergency room at your local hospital. Now, sit as close to the check-in/out desk as possible. One of the things asked on check-in is "What is your Social Security #?" This is a means of identifying the correct patient. About half of the people I check in at the ER where I work don't have one. Now, listen at check out. The patient is asked for their insurance information. 99.99% of the patients who don't have insurance are the same people who don't have a social security number.
Were you aware that there is federal grants to hosptials who care for these patients? OUR TAX DOLLARS ARE PAYING FOR ILLEGALS' HEALTH CARE!!! They know they don't have to pay. This is why they go to an ER everytime they sneeze. Now tell me this, HOW IS THIS GOOD FOR OUR ECONOMY!!!

Helped our economy? No way. We provide free insurance, education, etc to them and they do not pay taxes like those of us who are here legally. So we are foced to cover for them as if we all can afford to do that. Plus a lot of them prefer not to learn our language while taking advantage of us. What a slap in the face for us.

Chainreaction is right. 7 billion dollars is hard to argue with.... And I think we need to stop thinking of things in terms of the "white blue collar" poor and mexican poor and af. amer. poor. we should be thinking in terms of just poor! the republican party forces us to vote based on race not on class. They divide us poor over issues like gay marriage and immigration, all the while giving tax breaks to the wealthy and keeping the min wage at 5.15...

I think most people agree that illegals are not good for the US. That's why we're building a fence, and that's why it's such a big issue. It's hurting us in several different ways.
And to the girl who claims that most illegals pay social security, WRONG! Most illegals are paid by cash down here in Texas, that's how employers get around the law.
