The States of Mexico, are only 13. We would be better able to control the drug traffic and secure the borders from terrorists. The only way that they could get in would be through South America. And thats a very thin strip of land compared to the open border country from Texas to California. We could then influence mexicans to speak english, since it is the chosen laguage of the US. Their economy is terrible only because of corruption. Their mob actually runs the government. It would bring the US to sixty four states, heck, we could even bring in the Phillipines, for a round number of 65. The Phillipines and Puerto Rico are all ready US territories.

The really, really stupid thing is we had Mexico in our control. We defeated them in the 1850's and we withdrew north of the Rio Grande. We could always use the ancient rite of war we could claim Mexico as ours now, but the infrastructure would have to be totally rebuilt and everyone would have to learn English.

It's not going to happen. The Philippines have their independence

Isn't it ludicrous that Europeans of two different versions (Spanish & British descended WASPs) had to cross 3500 miles of Ocean to fight wars in a different continent, while the natives had no 'say' in the goings on? They (the natives) however were thrown with culture, language and faiths into the oblivion by the Spanish dominating in Mexico and WASP in the region east of Mississippi. The plots and sub-plots with Texas as a prominent player (sometime 'Republic') appear as if in a stage-managed show. Whats more, so much of history is written down. The boundary of Latin vs Anglo America cleavage is being to be pushed by both contestants on either side. Cubans had their own agenda that they wished to dove-tail into American scheme of things. To top it all the last century has added an ideological edge blowing the whole thing into supra-national proportions. The point is - it has always been the thrust of WASP to move into sparsely populated world's areas to decimate, digest or absorb the natives and make there another home. Story in north N.America, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa (partly) is the same. In the race the less sophisticated Iberians and their cultural descendants had to yield place. But the natives always lost & lost identity in the bargain between the other two. There was an old joke I heard. A newly freed black American was going round an American reservation as a tourist and he saw a native sitting idle, made a comment (I can't remember it now) on the situation of the natives while he, a slave till recently was having a better life. The native said 'wait till they play 'cowboy' with you'.

This MIGHT be the stupidest question on Yahoo! Answers today, except that there are so many gringos on the net this morning I'm sure somebody will come up with something dumber any second now!

Number One: The States of Mexico are 32 NOT 13! (Do you gringos just make up EVERYTHING in your heads? Actually LOOKING UP the correct data, just too tiring for you after all that beer drinking, crack smoking and bong honking?)

Number Two: The only "drug traffic" is that controlled for the benefit of YOUR illegal drug users. The United States Drug Addict and Consumer is the person who CONTROLS the drug trade of the WORLD! Your nation consumes EIGHTY PERCENT (80%) of the world's illegal drugs! The international cartels, the drug smugglers, the drug traffickers of the world are all working for the US DRUG CONSUMER and his BILLIONS of dollars. They bribe, corrupt, terrorize, torture, murder, assassinate around the world, including here in Mexico, on behalf of and PAID FOR, totally by the American Illegal Drug Consumer!

Number Three: As 300 million people in the Americas speak English and 300 million speak Spanish, I don't think you will influence many Mexicans to change to "the chosen language of the US!" We actually want to be LESS like the "gringo" not MORE! ( If we did decide to "change" languages, we - like the Isrealis picking Hebrew, - would probably chose a native Mexican tongue such as Nahuatl over English!)

Number Four: I hate to dissappoint you Mexico-bashing hate mongers, ( I do understand that you people DO need someone to feel superior to...) but the economy is simply NOT terrible. Mexico's economy is growing much faster than the US, after the US and Canada we have about the strongest economy in the Americas and one of the highest standards of living, along with the most stable government. If you take only Latin America into account Mexico is the strongest and most stable nation on the American continents. Sure there are huge problems, but your constant carping gringo critisism is undeserved!

Number Four: I think annexing Mexico would be a lot more than you guys could ever handle! Considering that the Mexican army is one of the most modern, best trained and efficient in the Americas and that you guys couldn't even take control of a little country like Iraq with one third the population, and a much poorer armed forces, I think you better try something more your capability before trying Meixco on..... Maybe little Cuba, although I'm pretty sure they could kick yer butts as well......

I think the US should definitely buy Baja California, Mexico, that would eliminate direct illegal immigration into California. I also think that the US should invade Cuba and make it a state.....Leave the rest of mexico, since it would be very hard to control, and leave Puerto Rico as it is. * Baja would be very easy to buy and control, and would cut down on the actual border between US and Mexico. Only Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas, which would be much easier to control.

This is the most stupid question in this forum. Phillipines and Puerto Rico are territories of the US? Are you living in the year 1898? Phillipines is independent country and Puerto Rico is a country assciated as a commonwealth with the US.

In essence this is what the rich eilte of both the U.S. and Mexico want. A unified North America consisting of Canada, U.S., Mexico, and Central America. One country from the North Pole to the Panama Canal. That's why the U.S. government drags their feet with border security. The rich don't want border security, they want to compete with the EU and China.

Sure why not? We dont have to make them change their ways or ethics, either. Plus if Mexico was made part of America, Id be a happy woman. My boyfriend of almost 10 years who was born in Mexico but raised here and whom I have a two year old son with, and recently got deported, we would be able to be a family again!
