The Texas Declaration of Independence was the formal declaration of independence of the Republic of Texas from Mexico in the Texas Revolution. It was adopted at the Convention of 1836 at Washington-on-the-Brazos and signed on March 2, 1836.
Parts of Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico & Wyoming and all of California, Utah & Nevada were added by the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. The Mexican Cession, in which Mexico ceded 1.36 million km² (525,000 square miles) to the United States in exchange for USD$15 million. The United States also agreed to take over $3.25 million in debts Mexico owed to American citizens.
The remaining parts of what are today the states of Arizona and New Mexico were later ceded under the 1853 Gadsden Purchase.
Remember, this issue is about legal/Illegal status. Not ethnicity.
All Illegal aliens, regardless of where they're from, should go back on their own. If they want to return, they should follow the legal process.
Legal immigrants, regardless of where they're from, are free to live in any state.

No sale on that argument. Mexico lost a war, lost the land, show's over, it's all said and done except the crying. Remember when the South tried to secede from the Union? I don't think it'll work out for the 'you stole our land' crowd, either...read you one of them there history books...no real substitute for a good education...never too late, either...
Let's have that border fence, english-only in the southern states, if for no other reason than to make the point, and more citizen volunteers helping the US Border Patrol.
Along with that, I'd like to see a treaty with Mexico that directly and expressly addresses the drug and illegal immigration problems that America has with that country, and more cities/states taking independent initiative to ensure that this problem gets resolved to the satisfaction of the voters. A couple lost crops are worth it, in terms of making the point about the border...maybe Mexico won't like it, but I would ask at what point it became America's job to cater to their likes/dislikes. There comes a point when 'help' has gone too far...

Que Pasa?? you seem like a bright fellow so this may be just a review for you. Mexico only possessed The American southwest for a couple of decades, Mexico's independence happened in 1821. Those former Mexican territories became American in 1848. The Mexican government signed a document named the treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, cedeing that territory to the U.S..
Forever.

All of those states with Spanish names were sold to the United States a long time, perfectly legally. We don't mind people coming to our country for a better life. We mind it when you think you are OWED it just because you set foot here. News flash! The United States does not OWE anyone anything. We CHOOSE to be nice to other countries because it's mutually beneficial (i.e. you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours). You want benefits and rights, you apply for citizenship and start paying taxes. Until then, go home.

I can't blame someone for wanting to provide more for their family. However, it's our country and our game so they have to play by our rules. Get the papers, it may be hard but it's worth it. If illegal immigration stopped, more applications for legal immigration would be approved.
On a side note: I fully support and encourage legal immigration. However just to point it out, on the day without immigrants that they had back when, purachases went down 5%, Shop lifting went down 70%.

I have mixed feelings about this.
Illegal immigrants are taking away benefits from hard working natural born American citizens.
But....the jobs that some illegal immigrants are doing are jobs that many people in the US don't want to do.
It's a catch-22.
If they are willing to work in the US, abide by the rules set forth that any other hard working person abides by, learn to speak the language, and not depend on government assistance then I say let them stay.

California, New Mexico, Texas, and Arizona are AMERICAN states. You can't say that illegal Mexicans should go back to their own country and send them to the southwest. It's OUR country now.
And don't give me a thumbs-down just because I'm putting things so bluntly, alright? My answer only SOUNDS more awful than it really is.
