I am a American married to a Irish citizen, and the answer is no, you have to go through INS and immigration department and go through the process's to make them legal, it depends where you apply for this documentation on the cost, it costed me $875.00 to get my wife legal, i would have paid any amount, and once you have succeeded in the process you have a visit from INS they ask alot of questions and tell you the will be back in 2 years to see it we are still together and it was not a marriage of convenience. but in short no they are no legal

No, what it makes is the alien eligible for an immidiate relative immigrant visa (ei. marriage based green card). There is a process which involves filing forms I-130, I-485, I-765, I-864 and G-325 along with supporting documents and exact separate filing fees, pictures and amedical exam report issued by an USCIS authorized doc. The US spouse has to show ability to support the alien financially and the alien has to show that he/she is not "inadmissible" under any reason (criminal record, fraud against USCIS, entered without inspection, past deportation and has not obtained a waiver, etc...)
Good luck.

After the people get married, they have to have interviews with immigration. It is advisable to get a good Immigration Attorney because they have lists of the questions you will be asked (they ask crazy questions like "what side of the bed do you keep the alarm clock?"). Some friends of mine just went through this, and someone else I know didn't "pass" Immigration's "test" because they didn't have a joint bank account (few other things were messed up) and the guy was deported.

after the marriage the embassy will call the non us citizen for the health check and interview and than they will decide to give or not the green card. Of course they need to check all the life of the non citizen for the state security!!!! And i strongly agree with all investigations they do!!!!

Not necessarily. It just makes it easier to become a US citizen if they came to the US legally to begin with. If they came illegally they can get special consideration to become legal if they marry. Marriage to an illegal does not automatically make them legal.

relies upon on the regulations of the state you're making plans on getting married in. in the large State of manhattan immigration prestige isn't an argument while employing for a marriage license/getting married. have not have been given any thought how issues are in different states yet would be very shocked if there are regulations everywhere. desire this helps.

Yes, as long as this is a legal marriage, and not one for keeping the alien in this country. The INS keep a very close watch on these couples for a few years.
