http://www.census.gov/hhes/www/poverty/threshld/thresh04.html
According to the US Census Bureau, a family of four with three children under 18 years of age should be able to survive on $19,223 per year. A family of EIGHT, with six children under 18 years of age is supposed to be able to survive on $31,082 per year.

Anyone here think they could do it?

No offense to any honorable servicmen from any generation.

1) Why is it that after WWII, the returning vets said, "Let's go to work", but after Viet Nam, you have a lot of "I'm so depressed, I'm going to be a bum and a drunk"?

2) Why is it that many vet orgs like VFW and Legion were unappreciative of the Vietnam vets?

Is #1 the answer to #2?

My salute to vets of both wars.

He cuts me off in traffic seemingly deliberately and so I honk my horn furiously at him almost on his bumper. We get to the next intersection and he gets out of his car, some white guy who looked like a discount suit salesman and he starts taking pictures of my license plate, inspection and registration stickers, and me and this douchebag tells me "You have no idea who I am." I told him "I don't give a **** who you are, you can suck my **** though." He walked back to his car and we went our seperate ways. This idiot can't do anything with those pictures can he? I mean, he can't prove anything from it. What do you all think?

It seems like a pretty sweet gig. You get to be online all day, tricking perverts into getting arrested. Does this position have a name, and who should I contact at the local PD to get in on this gig.

Do you have to go through academy training or have a law enforcement background? I am a college graduate with a BA in history, not looking to help the police in a way that involves risking my life every day, but I'd like to help out and get a better understanding of local, state, and federal laws and how they are enforced.

Computer work seems like a good way to get training in the legal system and should help when I apply to lawschools. If the online sting guys have to be street cops, do you know of any other positions that would allow me to work at the department?

I know most departments (including mine) are strapped for guys on the street, but I haven't heard about any other job openings.

Thanks in advance.

So, Al gore FINALY made his house eco-friendly.... "Earth in the balance" has been out for what 8 years? Did it really take that long for him to make the changes needed? And it is strange how it coincided with a report showing his home being one of the largest users of electricity and gas in his state.

So what took Gore so long to practice what he preaches?

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071213/ap_on_re_us/gore_tennessee_home;_ylt=AigCFBzwfEVaiFCN2vYwDyes0NUE

And notice at the end the people praising him are the people that have Gore on their board of directors...

Very…. Convenient...

Some say it's because he lacks much experience in politics as compared to the other candidates. Some say it's because he's part Muslim.

What are some logical reasons why he should/shouldn't be President of the USA?

I'm sure you saw the news already, but the VA's reaction to the increasing suicide rate amongst returning soldiers from Iraq--seems to have set them on the defensive.

Why aren't they taking this problem seriously?

If Ron Paul won the Republican nomination and Barack Obama won the Democratic nomination
1) who would you vote for
2) and why?
Personally I would vote for Ron Paul over Barack Obama because Ron Paul has a voting record that proves he supports the Constitution. What's your take on it?

How come we did not torture Sadam over WMDs but we torture low-level terrorist who for the most part are not REAL terrorist. If we need to use torture to save US lives. Why did Sadam get treated so fairly and humanly. But Little Akbar who wears a Bin Laden shirt gets water boarded and his family gets kidnapped. These are the real questions we need to be asking our Admin. Is this more proof that Bush was lying. But forget about Bush and his lies. I want to know why in the hell did Sadam not get tortured or questioned about WMDs, relationships with Al-Qaeda and other terrorist organizations. We just gave him to the Iraqi's after we made sure he was healthy enough to kill like some common criminal. Well he ain't no common criminal, he was dictator over a nation that had terrorist connections. So again, why did Sadam get treated so fairly and nice, but every other Muslim who gets caught for wearing a t-shirt or having a poster get treated worse than a man like Sadam.

There is now some 'Homeland' org that in the near future would be like 'thought police', able to apprehend someone for their beliefs(w/o Habeus Corpus). Shouldn't this be #1 concern for UScitizens? It's happening if you do research you'll see it(like Naomi Wolf's book) points oout.

I got an email today saying:
"Comcast has received a notification by a copyright owner, or its authorized agent, reporting an alleged infringement of one or more copyrighted works made on or over Comcast's High-Speed Internet service (the 'Service'). The copyright owner has identified the Internet Protocol ('IP') address associated with your Service account at the time as the source of the infringing works. The works identified by the copyright owner in its notification are listed below. Comcast reminds you that use of the Service (or any part of the Service) in any manner that constitutes an infringement of any copyrighted work is a violation of Comcast's Acceptable Use Policy and may result in the suspension or termination of your Service account."

The reason they site is that I downloaded something on bittorrent. I thought that an isp wouldn't share any info unless its something serious like a criminal investigation.

If I download a video from youtube will they arrest me?

The reason I am asking is that it seems as though there is some amount of contempt held for Officers by some Enlisted men for not being as active in the field work as they should be. I would like to join the ranks as an Officer, but I would not want to join the military only find myself in a position that seems meaningless and abused to some people. I just want to do my part in making this country better and frankly, I'm not intersted in any job that holds the significance of a "pencil pusher" when there are men putting their lives on the line for the same freedom and country. As it has been portrayed to me, it seems that Enlisted men do the fighting and the Officers move up in rank. I would just appreciate some clarification.

Just a side note, I don't know much about the conduct of Officers and Enlisted men and I am making no accusations. I appreciate the work that ALL of the men in the US military are doing for my freedom and the freedom of my fellow Americans.

The wealthy are business owners, first they cut out overtime for employees, next cut bonus and raises, next lay you off. You file for unemployment; taxes go up to pay unemployment. Government needs more taxes, raise it on the wealthy, the cycle repeats. The wealthy don’t get hurt; it’s the employees that pay the price
