For the ignoramus called LOLA:

What has the Israeli Government got to do with IRAQ or AFGHANISTAN??

Answer: NOTHING!!

you might try doing some research before typing and posting crap here.

As for the rest of the P.T.S.D. victims, and no offence meant here, why was this condition never a major factor in returning WW2 vets?

Is the fact really, that society has become to soft?? or a policy of going to war for a set amount of days, returning home, then going back messing with the soldiers heads, would the pre Vietnam policy of going and staying till the fight is won be a better way??

You'd be unhappy too if you spent 2 out of the last 3 years away from the people you love.

And you cannot compare the unhappiness level with the suicide rates. There are way too many factors to bring into account when you're talking about suicide.

Yo chick, think before you speak, unlike your country perhaps, you don't have people on here that lost friends and family to this fricken war that isn't about ourselves alright? That's really offensive, it's not even about winning the war, it's not really even a war and no one ever wins in war, it's the outcome if there is a positive or negative effect and I'm pretty sure I can figure out what your answer would be, cuz you prolly lived a life of pessimism and negativenes huh? That's what a lot of what I see from people out there that have the same views like this and toward America.
Do some research and find the right direction to point your fingers people.
Now, to the question.
Why our soldiers are unhappy, I wont go into any detail about anyone else out there, but will give it to you straight from someone that's away from my family as we speak.
I'll admit, I'm not all that happy. I have a 7 month old son that will be walking and talking before I even see him again if he or I ever meet again. I have a lovely wife that cries every day because she wonders if she'll wake up and see my face ever again, I have family back home, a father that I never saw shed a tear until he saw my step onto that plane headed toward this place.
I'm also unhappy because of what a few people do, people like you hate me and you wish horrible things on me and my fellow soldiers. It's people like you that don't deserve to be happy because you are SICK.
PS: That isn't to the author, that's to the other 90% of the people that are going to say something very anti-American because that's all there ever is.

We've been over this subject a million times on here. In all actuality, the military as a whole has had NO significant rise in suicide rates than from BEFORE the war started. Where were people like you about 12 years ago when it was at it's worst? Instead, you anti-war people take fabricated stories and try and use it to your advantage to fight this arguement. And of course, an AOL story is reputable? Come on, liberal hippie douch bag company!!

Gee, I wonder why? The suicide rate always rises when their is a major conflict let alone two. But most soldiers are not unhealthy. I have a uncle and three cousins in the marines and many friends there as well and they love it and want to go back to Iraq. I am going to enlist in the Navy next year. Our military is not unhappy. Find some unbiased opinions.

Because war is hell. It's not the cool action packed adventure the movies make it out to be.
It also doesn't help that when you are over there you beleive you are doing good because you see the Iraqi's and Afghanis daily in the street and villages who are happy to see you and thank you.
Only to come home and listen to the majority of america scream about how you and your brothers and sisters are being nazis and how we love killing civilians, you listen to them say that all your sacrifice and hard work over your deployment was for nothing. It's enough to get inside anyones head. Some just can't handle it as well as others.

how about you enlist and go to combat, come back and post your answer. that would be much better than relying on AOL to tell you news.
Going to combat can really mess people up, physically and mentally. When you return home from deployments soldiers can be in a mental "shock" to how different it is back home. The single soldiers go from, being around their co-workers 24/7 to being stuck in the barracks when off work, with nothing but booze and food. That leads to deep depression. Although the mental help is there for them, not all come out and get it.

Ive been in the army for 3 yrs been to Iraq and im happy as ive ever been. Some people just cant handle stresses of war. Soldiers arent super human they still feel stress and some need help coping with it. Also its not just suicide rate in military the suicide rate is up across the whole country.

Soldiers in active duty are not unhappy. Check the facts. The suicide rate is rising AFTER they come home, not there. Try using reliable sources, rather than AOL. They have a reputation for telling you only what they want you to know, just like they restrict website browsing with their pitiful dial-up service.
