My father was arrested about 2 weeks ago for drug-related issues and his court date is set for January 8th, 2009. My family cannot afford a lawyer, but some friends told me about some ranch that's around here that serves as an alternative to jail. I called and ended up right back where I started. This is a first offense, he's never had trouble with the law before, but since he's Hispanic and we're in Central Arkansas, the odds of him getting a fair chance are slim. How can I be more involved and maybe talk to the judge or someone that can help? I need to find other alternatives to jail. but I don't even know where to start. Help!

This act H.R. 1955 would virtually give our government the power to arrest, prosecute and incarcerate ANY AMERICAN CITIZEN who voices opposition to the U.S. Government for any reason, not merely domestic terrorists and violent political radicals.

For example, if you publicly disagreed with the U.S. Government for committing unconstitutional acts, then YOU could be considered a domestic terrorist or a political radical, at least. This is not merely a bad piece of legislation, it is UNCONSTITUTIONAL and a DIRECT THREAT to our FREEDOM.

I live in PA and the next time I go for my doctor's appointment (check-up), I was thinking about telling my doctor about me having sex, if he asks me. But I was wondering is my doctor required to tell my parents. If my parents found out, let me just say it wouldn't be a good thing at all.

I'll be 16 in 3 weeks (underage) but would I still be protected by doctor-patient confidentiality laws if I told him I am sexuality active & I would like some information on the birth control pill?
Is the doctor-patient confidentiality law still in affect for a minor when it comes to sex?

Recently i went UA from marine bootcamp because I knew that I had made a wrong decision. It all started when i went to the recruiter from then on he pretty much ran the show. I let him pretty much choose my mos and my ship date. At one point though i asked to change my ship date till after the holidays. He then told me that I wasnt allowed to do that and that I had to go to bootcamp no matter what since i signed a contract. So i thought to myself crap what do i do and decided i couldnt do anything and to go with it. So i did and i was at marine basic for about 4 weeks and decided this wasnt for me and left base. Ive been ua for just a day and I know i have to turn myself in. But I hate the marines now im depressed and have suicidal thoughts. They told me I had to come back and start my training over again. Also that there is no way out and I either have to graduate from there or die to get out.

I'm sure you'd rather not, but here it is anyway.

In 2001, the United States National Academy of Sciences was commissioned by the Bush administration to assess the current understanding of global climate change. Its report, published in June 2001, stated:
“The IPCC’s conclusion that most of the observed warming of the last 50 years is likely to have been due to the increase in greenhouse gas concentrations accurately reflects the current thinking of the scientific community on this issue.”

"[T]he overwhelming majority of scientists who work on climate change agree on the main
points, even if there is still some uncertainty about particular aspects, such as how the concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere will change in the future."

So I got a ticket for no clear reason but as per the cop I did not completely stop when light was orange. I want to know how to proceed from here:

1) I believe I go to the court on the date printed on ticket and plead "not guilty" and the court will assign another date for the trial?

2) Is hiring a lawyer necessary or can I plead "not guilty" by my own - I think I can defend for myself (it was after all orange light not red).

3) Will hiring a attorney help? If yes, where and how do I find one, and do I have to find one before the first ticket date?

I already have two tickets (last year) and want to avoid this one. Please advice.

Eight years ago my husband and I bought a manufactured house in Michigan. It is on a piece of property of its own. After we bought it we found out that it is not secured to the foundation, which is illegal. We also found that it had faulty plumming that was recalled years ago. We have replaced much of the plumming ourselves, but we are looking to sell the house soon and cannot do so until the illegal issues have been dealt with. Is it too late to go back to the previous owner and make them deal with it? All of these things were certainly not disclosed in our original aggreement.

I am looking for an attorney in Sevier County Tennessee for visitation with my daughter. Her mother & I were never married and she left Ohio to move to Tennessee while she was pregnant. After 10 months of waiting for paternity to be done, I found out I am in fact the father. I went to Tennessee to visit with my daughter for a weekend. That's all I could afford. Now her mother is being totally unreasonable. She's crazy. She works 60 hours a week & never spends time with our daughter. Child support is being established right away (of course) in Ohio; but what about my visitation rights? It's not my fault she moved out of state. I just want to see my daughter. Looks like I am going to have to travel 8 hours for court & visitation. I need a good attorney. Any one?

By going all outs against Romney, isn't Giuliani bringing Romney up to "competetion status"? Is he doing this because all candidates tend to choose another candidate whom to beat up in order to get notoriority themselves, espececially if they're running out of things to "promise" to the public; even at the risk of making the opponent better known in the process???
