I live in PA and the next time I go for my doctor's appointment (check-up), I was thinking about telling my doctor about me having sex, if he asks me. But I was wondering is my doctor required to tell my parents. If my parents found out, let me just say it wouldn't be a good thing at all.

I'll be 16 in 3 weeks (underage) but would I still be protected by doctor-patient confidentiality laws if I told him I am sexuality active & I would like some information on the birth control pill?
Is the doctor-patient confidentiality law still in affect for a minor when it comes to sex?

The doctor may be required to report violations of the law. if you are underage and sexually active then a violation of the law has occurred.

At 15 you are WAY to young to be sexually active. The only 100% effective way to prevent pregnancy is to not have sex.

You are not ready to support a child as you are still a child yourself.

The doctor - patient confidentiality clause does apply to sex as long as you are not breaking the law. You must point out that this is consensual and that your partner is in the proper age bracket as stated by the law. The only way the doctor can break his confidentiality is if you, or someone involved, is breaking the law. I wish you would wait a little longer to start being intimate but I commend you for being responsible about the situation. You should tell your Doctor everything and inform yourself on protected sex as much as possible. You are taking on a lot of responsibility so make sure you take this seriously. DON'T let this boy pressure you into having sex. Do it because you want to and for NO other reason.

I have learned from the Compton encyclopedia that US females can get married by the age of 13 in some states.
So it depends what state you live in - just logical that your
phisiological need of sex at your age should be kept confidential by others whom you turn about help by any issue associated to it.
Yes, your doctor should keep you prior above any law that suggests him otherwise.
At least that should be a doctor.
Add to that, they have a medical confidentiality pledge to declare to get their licence to practice at all -and that is above by common sense of any government of private demand to violate- but still you are the person to have good instinct about your doctor involving your case.
You never now just by the narrow and often blind laws existent for your or for against your interest.

Unless it's life threatening, no he cannot disclose this info. Try Planned Parenthood also. They do not disclose info about you and you can get exams and birth control for a reasonable fee.
