In all, more than 45,000 American Indians were relocated to the West during Jackson's administration. It goes on til this day because the controversy over Native American land still exist.

Those who criticize Jackson should evaluate his actions at the time they occured. While we wouldn't do a lot of those things today you have to realize this is what the general society wanted at that time. Historians will say the same about us - IF we're still here fto have them.
