It has been a while since a general died with his boots on, at least in the US Army. A long while.

Combat pay for personnel deployed in the Persian Gulf aboard ships or in the airbases near there-How many have them died because of combat? If you are in the war zone you take your chances; some infantry units and personnel are in secure areas and have had no combat causalities so only people in units with death or injury related to combat deserve combat pay? You figuring it daily, weekly or monthly. The system is set up as all personnel and really no other way to do it.

Because they are in a combat Zone. Combat pay has to do with the area the service member is in, not the job of the individual.

The Air Force gets it for flying over a combat zone even if they don't stop or shoot.

The navy gets it for crossing lines in the ocean that put them anywhere near the middle east.

There are rules that justify combat pay and the Generals earn it like everyone else.

Justified,
Everyone started somewhere and those low level officers are right there on the front line, in the trenches. It a lot harder to become an officer than you might believe

And you think only by dying in combat justifies combat pay.

They don't ever share the risks of combat, in your well-informed and highly experienced opinion?

Every soldier posted in a war zone gets combat pay. Whether they died or not.

Are you suggesting that soldiers coming back from Iraq were not eligible for combat pay because they did not die???

thats right, because if the general died who would run the show.. these men and women are not just pencil pushers,, they are truly versed in combat scenarios and are better educated than ;you think..the reason we beat Iraq in the first time was because of Stormin Norman.. love the guy,,, read his book, its very informative..

Yes it is justified, they are exposed to indirect fire in country just like their soldiers. They fly in helicopters and ride in vehicles that are shot at all the time.
