Sen Obama belongs to the United Church of Christ.
...but somehow I think you knew that.

This has been addressed on this forum multiple times. The hand on the heart photo was taken during the National Anthem, NOT the pledge of allegiance. There is no requirement of putting your hand on your heart during the National Anthem. I know I've always stood up from my seat and taken my hat off for the Anthem, but I don't think I've ever put my hand on my heart.
The flag pin? You mean those little flag pins made in Chinese sweatshops? Yeah, Real American

In regards to holding his hand over his heart, a picture was taken during the national anthem, not the pledge of allegance. Not everyone puts their hand on their heart during the national anthem, but some people around him did. The picture was then taken out of context to bash him.

because having a flag pin does not make you patriotic. doing what is best for America and Americans is what makes you patriotic.
As for the pledge of allegiance, you do not need to hold your hand over your heart, as long as you hold true and have conviction of the words you speak it does not matter.
By the way, Obama is not muslim and it would not matter if he was muslim. Christianity and Islam both have their share of radical fanatics.

Who cares?
What does wearing the flag mean anyway? Actions speak louder than words.
I respect a person more if they are willing to enlist.
Military is short on personal. If every person waving a flag would enlist, military people would not have to rotate in and out of Iraq so much.

Wearing the flag could be seen as disrespectful as well... I remember Kid Rock getting bashed for it a long time ago.
As for not putting your hand over your heart... I hope that was a one time thing that he won't do again, because that's truly unAmerican.
Regardless... many of the front-runners are just as unAmerican as he is with what they bring to the table... i've had a song stuck in my head for weeks now.
"Bye, Bye Miss American Pie" ... now I know the songs message.

No, because Muslims put their hands on their hearts. Maybe he's trying to be different.

Maybe he knows that any hypocritical, duplicitous, low-life, traitor can perform meaningless rituals. Maybe he's banking on people listening to what he has to say and judging him based on his performance and merit. Maybe he thinks too highly of the average American's intelligence.
