I say this in a broad sense in order to leave room for what, if any, type of care falls within the role of the federal government.

The dictionary says it is Socialism - but Republicons say taxes and government services are socialism. Could they be...wrong?

I notice smokers just throw their butts out the window and don't care if they are still lit or not. This is one of the main reasons we have wild fires every year in CA. This costs tax payers millions of dollars. We just passed a law that states we can't drive and talk on a cell phone but no one seems to care about smokers. I don't understand why. Smokers don't care about their lives so why would they be cautious on the road????

I am an employee of a Quick Service Food and Beverage Restaurant. The companies policy is that you are not permitted to wear anything around your neck that can be seen (i.e. chokers, collars, fancy necklaces, and such thing) unless it is part of your costume or easily hidden beneath your costume. For a number of months I have been wearing a pentagram pendant on a simple piece of cord. It hangs low enough to be hidden within my blouse and tucked into my tank top. One day my manger saw and ever since that day he has made it a point to look for the cord around my neck and say “You need to take THAT off.” While at the same time someone else could be walking past wearing something, that literally drops to their waist, on the outside of their costume and won't say a word to them. One co-workers has a gold chain around his neck that can clearly be seen even at a glance. Am I imagining things or am I experiencing religious discrimination?

Ok, long story, so quick question. Can someone subpoena cell phone records and ISP information, such as chat records and emails, without the subscriber being aware? In other words, can someone subpoena my web activity without my knowledge, as well as my cell phone history?

Some people say they are liberal and others will argue their beliefs are not actually liberal. What does this mean? What's a fake liberal?

I'm trying to get more safety and comfort for fellow libray users, and after repeated letters have gotten some positive responses. But main problem keeps on being that there's only one toilet facility for male and one for female. But according to latest response I just got from government official this is okay for a 5k square foot library with an "average mothly door count of approximately 5 thousand individuals". Those being his exact words.

Now, knowing we definetely need to have one additional toilet per bathroom, plus have them in booths, separated from the sink, I'm interested in finding out if there's a national concensus to this rule or regulation for the entire USA. Or is this in Florida only?

I had to go to the bathroom really bad while at school, but the only bathroom that was open [the others were locked] was the one that all the smokers smoke in, so i had to go in there even though i hate how it smells. After i was done in the stall, i stepped out, and a faculty member i'd never seen before demanded to smell my hands to make sure i wasn't smoking. I beleive this is a violation of my rights since she had no basis to beleive that i was one of the people who was smoking. The only reason i was in that bathroom was because all the others had been locked (for reasons unknown to me)

Is this a violation of my rights? If it is, who should i tell?

The American media made a huge deal about the conclusion by a British judge that "An Inconvenient Truth" contained 9 errors.

Many conservatives have argued that the liberal American media has made global warming out to be a bigger deal than it really is. Some have even argued that the media is part of a giant liberal global warming hoax.

If that were true, don't you think the media would have emphasized these points?

The judge also stated in the ruling that the film is "substantially founded upon scientific research and fact." The judge also said he had "no doubt" that the defendant's expert was "right when he says that: 'Al Gore's presentation of the causes and likely effects of climate change in the film was broadly accurate.'"

Where was the liberal bias when it came to reporting this story? It sure looks like an anti-anthropogenic global warming theory bias to me. Or at least an anti-Gore bias!

I was raised in a Democratic family. My Mother and father both worked hard, they instilled a strong work ethic into my self and my siblings. I have been working in one form or another since I was 12. First job was a paper boy. I don't get it? I grew up in a low to middle income democratic neighborhood (South Philly) where everyone worked. So why this misconception? I would venture to guess that there are more employed Democrats in the county that Republicans.

This happened to me yesterday. I'm at a 4-way stop (busy) intersection 2nd car in line facing east. Police first in line facing west. They come through intersection pull beside me, stare in my face. I move up, stop, take my turn (left) and see they are turning around. They end up maybe 3-4 cars behind me and I see their lights flashing as they pass the 3-4 cars behind me and get directly behind me. He drives behiind me for maybe a quarter mile and then pulls me over. Sits in his car for a couple of minutes, then approaches me, asks for my license, looks at it, looks at my windshield for current stickers (which I have) and then says "sorry to bother you, I'm looking for someone in a dark vehicle like this". I didn't say anything but I drive a very popular 4WD SUV and he's going to be pulling over a lot of people if that is all he's going on. Shouldn't he just run my plate for info? I was thoroughly shaken and embarrased - this happened two doors up from my home. Ugh.
